So as to not derail the Rey thread... Taue vs Big Gaijin is a problematic thing that I think decisively shows Taue as a tier below the other Corners. Taue vs Spivey and Taue vs Bossman aren't anything you want to share with skeptics. Taue vs Hansen produced good matches but not NEARLY as good as Hansen vs M/K/K. Ditto Taue vs Doc. The quality difference when Taue would tag with Jumbo or Kawada against gaijin was marked. Even the 'miracle' 10/21/97 Taue vs Ace match was more a product of raw effort and a receptive crowd than being due to things like execution or storytelling.

The worst of Hansen's stiffness (ie. Vader's eye) was caused by his blindness rather than being intentional.

Great Johnny Ace promo video
Via. PWSpyware "WWE filed trademark applications on August 10th for "Future Endeavored", "Future Endeavor" and "Mr. Future Endeavor" on August 10th." Hmmm, wonder what that could mean...

[1993-02-13-UWFi-Final Battle] Nobuhiko Takada vs Kiyoshi Tamura
Wrestlers start with 15 points. You lose 3 for a knockdown, 1 for a rope break, and some amount for certain throws, for instance Albright's German suplex. Use all the points and you lose by TKO. With RINGS it was 10 points, 2 for a knockdown/1 for rope break, and none for throws. The other main rule difference is no pinfalls. The original UWF had pins but not UWFi.

Linda McMahon for Senate catch-all thread
I'm basing what I said on what came out of the McMahon camp when they previously discussed running again. Also, I suspect they might have learned that sometimes ad spending can have a negative effect...

CM Punk: Greatest Promo Ever
They probably wouldn't have even kept him off a week if they had to physically wait a week to tape the show.

Linda McMahon for Senate catch-all thread
A lot less would be spent this time because they won't worry about name recognition, pushing her bio, etc.

[1992-08-28-UWFi-The Root of Wrestling] Kiyoshi Tamura vs Yoji Anjo
Tamura was in several good matches before this, but they had an 'undercard' feel to them. Here he comes across as a star, as does Anjoh, and both would get more of the spotlight in '93.

[1992-08-22-AJPW-Summer Action Series II] Stan Hansen vs Mitsuharu Misawa
My most recent writeup: "Let me tell you about this match. When I was first getting tapes in 2001, I thought this was awful. A couple years later I still thought it was bad. But now that I understand things with a bit more context and backstory, there's a lot of good stuff in here. Misawa's facelock was just a year removed from submitting Jumbo, and if it doesn't do the job on its own then it still can set up a knockout elbow like his '91 match with Gordy. Meanwhile, Misawa is one month removed from a shoulder injury and Hansen does a really good job of working it over. Plus they even reference the finish of their '91 match. So yes, this is a fairly methodical match, and they use their ring smarts to make up for not doing three dozen finishers."

[1992-08-22-AJPW-Summer Action Series II] Jumbo Tsuruta & Akira Taue vs Steve Williams & Terry Gordy
The story here is that they said Jumbo was out in July with a leg injury, so MVC targets the 'bad leg'. Too bad they couldn't target 'the hepatitis'.

Definitely keep pumping Dan for info. I'd like to see that Kawada/Taue vs FMW tag in full! I'm 99% sure those shows got skipped on Samurai.

Not sure how much 'sifting' there is to be done on the Samurai eps. I've gone through them pretty thoroughly in terms of matches with serious high-end potential and there wasn't much. Look at Kobashi's matches: http://www.purolove.com/noah/kobashi/kobashi97.php Other than the big matches that we've known about forever, you typically have a Mossman or an Asako or Omori or Johnny Smith or someone else who is average to poor. There's not many notable AJ '90s matches with a scrub in there. Several good-but-clipped NTV matches aired in full on Samurai, which is nice. Misawa vs Kawada and Kobashi vs Akiyama from the Carnival are solid choices for the yearbook but they didn't fall through the cracks. As far as the hour long NTV show, here are good-looking Kobashi matches that might have been taped and weren't on NTV/Samurai: vs Kawada, Carnival, 4/12 at Korakuen w/Ace & Patriot vs Misawa, Akiyama & Asako, 5/24 at Korakuen (Patriot pins Misawa) That's it. MAYBE a couple of the decent-looking 6-mans at odd venues were taped. Not much potential unfortunately. The AJ midcard was really week, as JDW as discussed in great detail. I think the '97 yearbook would be better served by paying attention to the Liger & Co vs Ohtani & Co feud, as opposed to sifting through AJ Samurai eps for three star matches.

I rescind my previous comment.

HHH taking over from Vince on RAW
That would be horrible. He'd make them look tiny, he can't easily drop down to the mat, and it makes no sense for him to be involved in a shooty political angle.

It would depend entirely on the matchlists, but it's news to me. Much like the complete NJ Classics I found out about via. Will. C'monnnnnn 6-man with Patriot pinning Misawa! No whammies!

The Pro Wrestling Illustrated MOTY for '81 was Andre vs Khan from Rochester, where Khan broke Andre's ankle with a botched kneedrop. Any reason it was MOTY other than being famous? Was it even taped? The concept of a MOTY happening here is beyond me.

Not that Japanese chairs are pillows, but they're exponentially less dangerous than the standard US folding chair. Which is why Masato Tanaka was an idiot for doing the same stuff in ECW that he did in Japan.

[1992-07-05-AJPW-Summer Action Series] Kenta Kobashi & Tsuyoshi Kikuchi vs Masa Fuchi & Yoshinari Ogawa
For All Japan, I'm hosting most of these and I have the date right 99% of the time. There's the Purolove archive of Kobashi results, and since he's on pretty much every show that's a good way to double-check the date of a taping: http://www.purolove.com/noah/kobashi/kobashi.php Or just post the whole list and I bet people will do it all for you, since you're doing so much work already with these! I can't even begin to imagine how long it takes to do all the individual threads...
