Ring of Honor Wrestling
Jimmy Rave might be hesitant to face someone when the finish involves taking an overwrought lariat.
- Dave Meltzer stuff

-That tag got raves from puro followers at the time. I had no idea Meltzer had it so low (by his standards). -Definitely no more extensions. I'm not Will

Deadline moved to December 31st!

Okada's finisher is often accompanied with a massive bump, even if it's low-impact by itself. On the other hand, Tanahashi using a frog splash as a finish in Japan is and will always be a bit confusing.

I can confirm that this is the case. He's good people.

1990s All Japan
Omori really stepped up over the course of a few months, but his innate mediocrity caught up eventually.

Great UFC fights 2012 on
Matt Brown vs Erick Silva from Saturday, especially round 1, was Pro Wrestling as hell.

Would an extension to year's end be something that many of y'all would be interested in?

1990s All Japan
I bet Vader was just so happy to be doing physical matches and getting a push after how his WWF run went. He tried in WWF but clearly lost motivation over time (can't blame him). In All Japan it was like flipping a switch. Boom, world-class worker.

There are some RWTL '98 matches with the Ace/Barton team (vs Kawada/Taue, vs Kobashi/Akiyama) that I think would be interesting. Solid action and an introduction to Mike "Bart Gunn" Barton as a capable worker. Lynch 1226 (disc 2) has both of those. Regarding the MPro matches above: the 10-man isn't compete on #89 (disc 1), but it's more complete. Oddly enough, the tag league final seems to be slightly LESS complete despite more time being devoted to the show... Liger, Samurai & Wagner vs Ohtani, Kanemoto & Takaiwa

I'm still working my way through RWTL '98 footage.

I'd bet that's Takayama's song, he's a big America-phile.

1990s All Japan
'98 All Japan is not going to make anyone forget '93, but they still produced plenty of very good matches at a time when most wrestling was cruddy.

NJ juniors 6-man from November 16th is worthy. Lynch #1350 has it in full.

Is Tori Spelling the best worker in the world?
I can't get away from thinking about how much reality TV sucks. I don't watch much, and when I do the flaws leap out at me, much like the occasions when I flip to TNA for 30 seconds or so once a year. Example: Duck Dynasty. After a couple episodes that had me lifting an eyebrow about the lack of realism, they had two family members "randomly" go to a kid's "pizza & games" place... complete with an establishing shot. Mind you, the dialog had this as completely spur-of-the-moment, "oooh, go in there!", not planned. But the establishing shot was painfully obvious. Then the two family members go in, and we get a shot of them walking up to the counter to order, from behind the counter. Exponentially more fake than pro wrestling.

Is Tori Spelling the best worker in the world?
I am truly at a loss as to why millions of people are fixated on godawful, heavily scripted reality shows about B, C, and D-level celebrities, and every time I see the magazines at supermarket checkout aisles I swear I can feel myself losing IQ points.

Legitimate badasses
Being badass is about handling yourself in a dangerous situation. That said, I'm guessing New Jack with only his bare hands would be nothing special.

Legitimate badasses
Pretty much anyone from New Japan's dojo got quality training in shoot holds and general toughness. I mean, yeah Andre was nearly crippled by 1986, but would YOU go at him legit like Maeda did rather than just bailing and taking a countout loss? And Maeda might not have even been the most legit guy from the dojo over the years. Also, 2 Cold Scorpio was not to be messed with. New Jack with multiple "justifiable homicides" might take it.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
PWI says they gave Young the belt "so that they can do some cross promotion with his Animal Planet show, Off The Hook: Extreme Catches. Season three of the show debuts on Sunday June 16, and the plan is to spend the next two months getting Young over as champion to coincide with the return of the show." I don't even know

Taue won several high-profile matches with the Dynamic Kick around that time, including vs Misawa at CC '98. Not sure *why*...

[2003-06-06-NOAH-Navigation With Breeze] Jun Akiyama & Akitoshi Saito vs Kenta Kobashi & Tamon Honda
I've watched this enough that I feel comfortable saying... some people are overrating this. But I understand why. It follows up on the October '02 tag title match and Kobashi vs Honda, both of which are high-end. The finish is very memorable. The work is often great. Yet there are enough lulls and downtime to mean this doesn't quite stack up with the best of the decade. I feel much more engaged with the somewhat comparable 9/10/04 tag title match, though I won't blame anyone who prefers 6/6/03 based on execution and the finish. So... on the ballot, yes, handily. Top 50, probably not.

[2003-06-06-NOAH-Navigation With Breeze] Akira Taue vs Yuji Nagata
I had this #2 for 2003. So much Taue goodness, so much heat, and indeed, very "tidy". While the January tag showed that Taue could still go, this establishes him as still being capable of elite-level performances.

[2003-04-13-NOAH-Encountering Navigation] Kenta Kobashi vs Tamon Honda
I pegged this as #1 for 2003 the last time around. The reasons why this is a standout- Honda's bumping, the underdog story, the dramatic finishing run- are well established. But what puts this ahead of the pack is the solid pacing and the many nifty details. For instance, Honda setting up an armbar by dropping on Kobashi's chest is something I don't recall seeing in any match before or since. I don't hesitate to call this a MOTDC, and I'd be surprised if it's lower than 10th place on my ballot.

[2003-03-01-NOAH-Navigate For Evolution] Mitsuharu Misawa vs Kenta Kobashi
This will almost certainly make my ballot, and has a good chance at top 75... but not so much at top 50. Much like their 10/31/98 match, they do a hell of a lot right in the first two-thirds: exchanges, payoff/learning spots, teasing, gradual escalation. And then there's one big move and everything gets way way sluggish. I have no problem with selling a bomb, but when there's like 10 minutes of time containing about 1 minute of action, that's a bit much. A good comparison is 10/21/97, which had considerably less downtime, plenty of bombs, and is rarely mentioned as a MOTDC or a super-classic. To say nothing of 1/20/97, which had much more substance in the middle and was every bit as epic (if not more so).
