A wrestler named Jim Davis is gonna rip him off and become a zillionaire? I had operated on the assumption that Heathcliff was a shitty Garfield rip-off for years! I'm flabbergasted to find out that Heathcliff came first. It's insane the things I learn here.

At least putting Reigns with Cena means he probably doesn't get booed.

This makes me picture a whole scenario where Vince dies, but Dunn is the only one who knows, and he has to pull a "Weekend at Bernie's" to keep his job.

Didn't know Slick lived here. Is this what you shot? http://www.wdrb.com/story/27567607/louisville-pastor-discusses-history-making-career-as-a-pro-wrestling-manager Yessir. Pretty happy with how it turned out.

If that LP wasn't $75 on discogs, it'd be on it's way to my house.

Greatest Upsets In Professional Wrestling?
A lot of that reaction was because Steiner's win was the payoff to a really long story. Steiner had been in the Varsity Club with Rotundo for a while. He was a heel, but sort of loveable. People were dying for him to turn, so when he finally did and took the title, it made for a great reaction.

Greatest Upsets In Professional Wrestling?
Andre beating Hogan (and the craziness surrounding it) was pretty shocking. I don't know that you can really call Andre beating anyone an upset, but I clearly remember that night and being very surprised that Hogan wasn't champ anymore. Could be that since I had been into wrestling, Hogan had always had the belt, so seeing him without it was weird.

On a positive note, I had the opportunity to interview Slick today! He's a pastor here in Louisville now. We interviewed him and were able to shoot his sermon, too. He's very upbeat about his WWF days, and wrestling in general. He was very high on One Man Gang and Butch Reed, but wasn't a fan of working with Bossman. Bulldog Bob Brown also came up. Also, I had no idea he was Rufus R. Jones' son.

The lawyer who told me that stuff is a bit on the crazy side. Gossiping about his clients is probably peanuts compared to some of the stuff he's probably done. Really though, he's always been a straight shooter in my dealings with him. And this wasn't a recent conversation. I heard that a couple of years ago, so it has nothing to do with Punk and WWE's relationship now. It was just something that popped in my head, so I thought I'd see if anyone had heard that too. I'm not trying to stir up any shit, I just wondered if it was something that had made the rounds and was shot down or was common knowledge.

I was recently in a lawyer's office and he had a bunch of wrestling memorabilia signed by a bunch of different guys (mostly guys who had been through OVW). One thing was something signed by Punk. I asked what he represented him for, and he said "DUI". I asked if he was sure about that, and he said he definitely was. I'd just never heard it mentioned, but thought it may be one of those things I'd missed. Speaking of Lawler, this same lawyer represented him in his statutory rape case. I don't want to turn this into another sleaze thread, so I won't repeat his comments on that one.

Is it common knowledge that CM Punk got a DUI in Louisville during his OVW stint?

It's interesting that Mayne's death is really only mentioned in relation to its effect on the card for that week.

WWE Network... It's Here
I wasn't online yet for BATB, so I was sure it was going to be Bret. He had been gone for a while, so it seemed likely. I watched the PPV at my house and my friend who never watched wrestling kept saying it was going to be Hogan. We didn't think he was right. We were obviously on top of things.

Could they make it any more obvious that there are most-definitely not concrete blocks at ringside? I know it's old hat to rag on the announce team, but goddamn are they terrible.

Random stuff I've encountered this week at work... Sting's son, Steven Borden, is the starting tight end for the University of Kentucky football team (yes, they have a football team). My friend Mike did a story on him: http://www.wdrb.com/story/26539416/son-of-sting Also, one of my coworkers found out that Slick is a reverend in Louisville now. He's trying to set up an interview with him. I'll most likely get to shoot it. Way more excited about that than I probably should be!

Orton is my favorite guy I can't stand. By that, I mean I never look forward to seeing him, but I end up enjoying more of his matches than I'd have thought.

Well, you see...with No Holds Barred, you can do whatever you want in the match and you won't get disqualified. With No DQ, you're not going to get disqualified for anything that you do in the match.
