The importance of jobbers
Seems like that's all you get now.

Current WWE
Please. I beg of all of you. Don't let this thread turn into what the one over on DVDVR turned into over Swagger. Please... So what is the latest on Undertaker? Judging by Raw, it really looks like they're putting Punk with Rock and Cena.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
Like I told a friend on facebook who mentioned this. Ask Naofumi "Yoshi Tatsu" Yamamoto how his career is going. . . . . Tatsu's still on the roster, right? I mean, he's getting a paycheck and he doesn't have to do much. He'll probably be able to return to Japan in a higher-profile gig if (when) he gets released. Not too shabby. Now, I know that Okada has a higher profile in Japan than Tatsu did, so I don't know if it work out for him. Just saying that Yoshi's not in the worst spot.

I'm hoping this leads to an appearance by Swagger's dad. Just for some Dutch/Buck interaction.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3
I was shooting a story today in Taylorsville, KY. I was getting some video of a row of historic buildings that are being demolished. In one of the windows there was a wrestling poster advertising a show for something called Wildcat Championship Wrestling. Dutch Mantell was in the main event. Never thought I'd be seeing the dude on Raw tonight.

Wha? Like, Freebird Buddy Roberts?!?! I feel like I'm finding out there's no Santa Claus all over again.

2013 Royal Rumble Thread
They could always have HHH drop the fall in the tag and then allow Punk to talk shit to UT for a year to maybe build a singles match for when he's healthier.

When was their prime?
Bart Gunn's easy. Prime started when he ko'd Dr. Death. Ended when he got ko'd by Butterbean. What was that? Like, 2 months?

2013 Royal Rumble Thread
The last one was accidentally a "reviving" elbow. On Punk/Rock (heh!)...I had a friend over who's an old-school wrestling fan, but has lapsed for quite a few years. When Rock asked that the match continue, he said "I've got chills!" Also, a guy I work with got the Rumble for his son who's 6. He said the kid was in tears when Punk originally won, then jumping for joy when Rock won. I have some problems with the finish, too. But I'd say they nailed it with their target audience.

2013 Royal Rumble Thread
One thing I did like about the 'lights out' thing was that the announcers (Cole, at least) acknowledged that it was obviously Shield. With all the flashes going off, it would be obvious to someone sitting that close to the attack who did it.

I agree. I thought he'd be a disaster as a face. I think Ricardo helps as people were really wanting to start cheering him. I worry that he's going down the Sheamus path, though. A little too jokey-jokey.

Jerry Lynn
I'm pretty indifferent to Lynn and I downright hate Roderick Strong. For some reason, I watched a match between them from ROH. It was actually good. I gotta think that was all Lynn. So, I guess if you can make me like a Rod Strong match, you've gotta be doing something right.

Nick Bockwinkel
I honestly have no recollection of Bock v. Jarrett. Maybe I will put that in the too watch pile. Well worth it as this is a great match. Bock does his best impression of Flair as touring champ and makes Jarrett look like a credible threat even if he doesn't look like he can buy a drink. Bock also does a great job capitalizing for the finish and high tailing it out. I remember thinking that if this had taken place in Crockett or something, it'd be a much-talked-about match. I loved it.

What?!?! You crazy. Even when shit goes down like you versus Victator, it's still more interesting than any other board. It sounds lame, but I think I seriously learn something new every time I log on here. I am a married man with a kid and a job I hate. I need this place. (To clarify: I hate just my job, not my kid. She's great.)

Dave Meltzer stuff
Bigelow wasn't that tough. He got his ass handed to him by Major Payne (even if it may have been a work).

Intensely Personal
The Eddie Kingston/Chris Hero rivalry had some hate. I guess there was something real there between them, but they really brought it to the ring. The feud stretched over a few indie promotions for a few years. I love their brawl at the '07 TPI.

Agree with OJ. To me, 99% of being a good announcer is sounding like you belong in the booth. If you can not actively distract from the wrestling, that's a big start. I don't care about guys calling moves correctly, etc. Gabe Sapolsky could get moves right. He also had made me want to jab sharp things into my ears. I didn't mind Caudle with Ross. Ross could get so excited and over-the-top, it was nice to have someone more low-key in the booth with him. And when something big would happen, Caudle could get excited. It's not like he was a lump all of the time.

Wrestling Culture Episode 34
Clearly, this is how The Streak must end.

Shinya Hashimoto
This thread got me wanting to watch some Hash. Been watching his stuff versus the WAR guys in 93. Shinya is not afraid to straight-up maul a dude. I legitimately feel bad for his opponent when he gets on them.

Wrestling Culture Episode 34
That's one of my absolute favorite descriptions of a wrestling match I've ever heard. Of anything, really.
