Posted July 2, 201015 yr comment_5452654 Neither team could gain a sustained advantage for most of the match, but the action and stiffness picked up early and never really flagged. Finally, Jumbo and Tenryu managed to isolate Yatsu and destroy his back. But Jumbo missed a shoulderblock into the corner, and Choshu popped the crowd by busting in and drilling him with a lariat. He and Yatsu followed with a couple of big double team moves, but then Jumbo drew an equally big pop with a counter suplex on Yatsu. That set up a wild finishing run full of nearfalls, momentum shifts and great saves. I didn't mind the countout in this case because it flowed naturally from all the chaos. This lacked the signature moments of their matches from January and February, but it's hard to complain about two of the best teams in the world going hard for 25 minutes before a hot crowd. September 16, 201015 yr comment_5455791 Riki Choshu/Yoshiaki Yatsu vs. Jumbo Tsuruta/Genichiro Tenryu, 10/27/86 (TV 22) - Choshu controls early with the head scissors but Jumbo fights back, tags in Tenryu and he takes over with a head scissors then Yatsu takes over on Tenryu. Eventually, Yatsu gets his ass kicked. However, Choshu comes in and Tenryu gets his ass kicked. I always love these matches where the roles are clearly defined. Jumbo and Tenryu just abuse Yatsu in this match. This is all about how much punishment Yatsu can take and how many times choshu can save him. Hell, Tenryu seems to play how many times can I throw and enziguiri at this guy. Awesome stretch run with both teams throwing bombs and making big saves. The finish sucked though and prevents this from being a slam dunk. As it is, this should move forward but with the volume of matches between these teams, this may get cut in the end.
October 6, 201014 yr comment_5456856 NWA International Tag Titles: Riki Choshu & Yoshiaki Yatsu © vs. Genichiro Tenryu & Jumbo Tsuruta (10/27/86) This is yet another great match in their series and this one was just a notch below the classics from January & February due to the finish but still this was really solid stuff. The fans were hot for everything and the wrestlers did everything very well especially Yatsu who took his beating like a man. Everyone had defined roles like Will said and the hatred that everyone had for another came through well in their exchanges. This is an easy nomination.
