Kabuki and Ishikawa targeted Fuyuki's leg early. When Tenryu finally tagged in, he went after Ishikawa with a series of vicious, vicious forearms. Damn, he was a mean fucker. Fuyuki blew off the legwork more than I'd have liked, but he hit some nice high-flying offense for near falls. I liked the way Kabuki sneaked in a superkick to set up a flash pin by Ishikawa while the ref was distracted with Tenryu. Let's see, surly Tenryu + blood + babyface Kabuki + nifty ending. Sounds like a nomination to me.

Great Kabuki/Takashi Ishikawa vs. Genichiro Tenryu/Samson Fuyuki, 2/20/88 (TV 5) (2/20 -2/29)

- I like the game plan of keeping Fuyuki grounded and working him over with leg locks, sharpshooters and spinning toe holds. Not the most exciting work but it is a sound strategy. Man, this thing kicks into overdrive when Ishikawa gets bused open. It seems like they are moving the match at lightning speed and not really building up the tags but everyone is on fire and it is never boring, allowing the crowd to get behind the match. Great clean ending that I was not expecting. Maybe a little abbreviated compared to previous matches but this was structured more like a sprint but it was so fun. I support the nomination! That is 5 tags in a row where I enthusiastically support it moving to the next round.

The Great Kabuki & Takashi Ishikawa vs. Samson Fuyuki & Genichiro Tenryu (2/20/88)

This had some good action to start with Tenryu just clubbering guys and even busted Ishikawa open hardway with a forearm which kicked this match into high gear. Ishikawa takes a big beating as Tenryu just pounds him with Fuyuki getting his shots in as well while Ishikawa bleeds. Ishikawa would get the tag to Kabuki though who ran wild until bringing Ishikawa back in who again got caught by Revolution with Fuyuki getting some really close nearfalls but Kabuki would nail him with a superkick with Ishikawa cradling him for the win as the crowd goes nuts. Very fun match and this moves forward easily.
