Posted July 25, 201015 yr comment_5453554 This is the infamous show where the Dudleys go on a pre-match tirade and nearly start a riot. The match itself is a pretty good street fight with some massive bumps from Spike, a balcony dive from Spike, and some pretty good brawling. The end is flat, but it's a title change and the post match with the tables on fire is kind of iconic even if it was half botched. They probably had better finishes but I'm not sure they had better matches. Tough call on this one too. I'll give it a low end nomination.
August 5, 201015 yr comment_5454021 I thought this was pretty great. First, the pre-match should be an extra without the match if the match doesn't make the final cut. The first part with Spike as pinball carried the first few minutes as I wasn't into the chair shots or the Bubba hitting Ballz with random weapon. Then the cheese grater came into play. As a vampire, I sort of love that kind of stuff. Then when Bubba and Ballz stop trying wrestling moves and just punch each other in the head through the crowd, all good. Spike's big leap would have been HUGE if I stopped caring about balcony dives ten years ago. I can accept it as a big moment at the time though. I actually was digging the stereo pin attempts at the end but was sort of sad they stopped punching each other in the face. I think the better ending would have been the stereo drivers instead of stereo roll-ups but I give this an enthusiastic yes with the pre-show added on and even the post-match with the botched table bomb. I may cut it before the New Jack run-in though because that kind of sucked.
August 6, 201015 yr Author comment_5454064 Honestly I was sort of indifferent to this watching it as I thought the pre-match antics of the Dudz were so awesome that the match sort of paled in comparison. Having said that this is a low end nom from me that I would probably have fought to include as it is a sort of iconic and "important" ECW match that people remember. There are similar matches that made the SC top 100 that were a lot fucking worse than this.
October 20, 201014 yr comment_5457448 ECW World Tag Titles: The Dudley Boyz (Buh Buh & D-Von) © vs. Balls Mahoney & Spike Dudley (7/18/99) Yeah this entire spectacle has to go on and it shows that the Dudz probably had the most heat of any heel act in the history of ECW. The prematch stuff was golden and the actual match was pretty damn good as well. Definite nomination.
