This was definitely a "top this" Sabu match but it was really well paced, the spots were all hit cleanly, and when they got to the countering exchanges at the end they came across really organic and less over the top than normal. Candido took some really big bumps in this and even the "cute" Sabu spots that you get in every match came across looking really brutal. I really liked that neither guy kicked out of the others finisher and they were countered instead (Sabu with back drop out of top rope powerbomb and Candido with the knees on the triple jump). I could have gone for some better selling down the stretch, but I thought this was solid. Check out Candido's crowd dive for a really sweet spot that sort of surprised me. Going in the nomination pile.
August 6, 201015 yr comment_5454074 I enjoyed this match but not as much as Dylan. A couple of spots looked awkward (piledriver from the top) that Sabu basically no sells. I could appreciate the danger aspect and Candido trying to prove he is as insane as Sabu but I am numb to the big spots right now and may have to revisit this one in the future. I do agree that almost every spot in the end loked natural whether it was a counter or offensive move. I thought the finish should have been more epic but they threw enough at each other that I can forgive it. For now, I give it a Mild Nomination.
September 20, 201015 yr comment_5456017 "Homicidal, Suicidal, Genocidal" Sabu vs. Chris Candido (2/22/97) I like that in Candido's rant before the match they censored "fucking jew" but nothing else. Good start as you had both men trying to outdo each other with Candido hitting an insane plancha from the top to the crowd being a main highlight. The piledriver off the top rope was a good idea it was just that Sabu landed back first on Candido's knees. They would brawl around some more before going to matwork which was odd to say the least before Candido got on the mike to talk shit and then we would go into the big spots game and both men were very solid especially Candido who hung with Sabu spot for spot. Sabu would prevail in the end but Candido put on a helluva effort and I think this moves forward.
