Posted July 27, 201015 yr comment_5453647 I liked this a good deal. It starts with Dreamer answering Corino's challenge for a bullrope match only to be blindsided by Tajiri. They brawl around ringside and Dreamer claims it's a FCA match as well. Tajiri is great in this bumping strong for Dreamer's pedestrian offense and hitting all of his staple spots well. I really love Tajiri's goofy facial expressions, and I thought Corino added a lot as a second. Near the end they do a pretty great sequence with Dreamer trying to drag Corino off the top with the bullrope through a table only for Tajiri to leap on to the table, spray the mist in Tommy's eyes and then crush him with a double stomp on the table. Finish was fairly flat as Dreamer went over both guys with a double DDT, but the body of this was strong enough to put it through.
August 5, 201015 yr comment_5453943 This was sort of a tale of two matches for me. When Tajiri was on offense, this was good. When he wasn't it was what it was. The crowd brawling felt unnecessary and there were a couple of minutes of darkness because RF isn't working with professional equipment. I think Dreamer was thinking of something cool to do with the ring bell but it never materialized. I agree that the stretch run was really fun and I didn't think the finish was flat at all. I want to see what the other match is like as I see this as a match that should make the set but if the other one has better lighting and is just as good, we can use just one. EDIT: Yep near identical match. We should just use the other one. I vote no on this one.
October 25, 201014 yr comment_5457659 Japanese Death Match: "Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer vs. Yoshihiro Tajiri (3/25/00) The darkness deal with the brawling in the crowd wasn't really RF's fault perse as it was the completely shitty lightning in that building. It was lit like a Central States house show circa 1981. There was some fun brawling here and Corino was good in his role but I wasn't entralled with this so I'm going no on a nomination.
