Posted July 27, 201015 yr comment_5453654 This was an amazingly fun match. The crowd has been great all night, but they are fucking molten here and everyone really delivers. I expect Roadkill and Anderson to work good exchanges together and they do, but you don't expect Doring to look like he is relatively polished or a pose down comedy spot mid-match to be this entertaining. Really loved the story of the babyfaces getting over on the heels, the heels demanding a pose down, Roadkill working a Hogan schtick to massive pops and C.W. beating him to a chair, with shit breaking down to wild crowd brawling. Gabe had to get wide shots of the brawling but it came across as pretty intense and the shot of Dreamer shaking a beer and spilling it all over the place moments after Roadkill stormed someone into the railing was pretty great. This kept a real breakneck pace the whole time and it was an occasion where the right heels were paired off with the right faces in just the right setting. Good stuff.
August 5, 201015 yr comment_5454030 This really had an ROH six man tag feel. Maybe this was the template for the ROH style but there were some thing sthat just didn't work for me. For one thing, almost every offensive move was executed off the Irish Whip and that gets tiring after awhile. For as much shit as Lance Storm gets for his shitty punches, I have not seen a Storm match yet (ok, I have only watched 2 or 3) where his punches were as shitty as Tommy Dreamer's and the heels were selling like WWF guys taking those shitty strikes. I didn't mind the chair shot by Anderson to Roadkill because it helped turn the tide after the posedown but the crowd brawling and hot ending didn't really work for me in 2010. I think the finish was fine but too many good things to see. I think if we need to get some of these guys on the set, we can include it but I won't go to the wall for it. We'll put it in the maybe file for now.
August 6, 201015 yr Author comment_5454087 Roadkill is a guy I really want to get on the set. He busts his ass in everything he's in. To be honest he's mostly a guy with a few big spots, but they are really impressive spots and he executes them well. I'd hate to see him shut out (I actually liked his singles match with Tommy Rogers from the Halloween 97 show a lot, but it was so short I couldn't justify nominating it). I like Anderson too and Dreamer is definitely going to make the set. The rest of these guys I could give a shit about. Also say what you want about Dreamer, but he's a guy that always tries his hardest. I think he absolutely decimates Storm as a worker and I'm hardly a big fan of Dreamer. I think the real difference is that Tommy comes across as a shitty athlete, with few skills, who by trying hard actually has more good/memorable matches than he should. Storm on the other hand is clearly a good athlete, but he's a "workrate" style wrestler who tries to coast on that even those his spots aren't terribly impressive, they are rarely impactful, and he's not as fast or explosive as the other guys from that era (let alone guys from this era).
October 25, 201014 yr comment_5457663 Amish Roadkill, "Dastardly" Danny Doring, & "Innovator of Violence" Tommy Dreamer vs. CW Anderson, Simon Diamond, & Johnny Swinger (7/28/00) This was a very fun sprint where everyone was busting their ass and was the best match I've seen of all these guys except Dreamer on the set so far. Just really solid stuff and a easy nomination to me.
