Posted July 29, 201015 yr comment_5453735 Bam Bam Bigelow v. Al Snow Not much of a match. It's JIPed. Bigelow won the title the night before and this is just an introduction to his title run and a total squash. FBI v. Balls Mahoney/Axl Rotten Another really fun FBI performance. Smothers showing aggression and going right at Balls twice was an interesting twist on all the usual bits which never get old to me. This had a sub plot of good ref v. evil ref which actually didn't distract from the match because it only came into play during the finish and it wasn't done in a cheesy way. Nowhere near as good a segment as these two teams match from the Arena, but I enjoyed it. I resist nominating only because these two teams have at least one obviously better match, and I doubt others would enjoy the stalling spots here as much as I did. Paul Diamond v. Justin Credible Most interesting thing about this was how much Diamond looked and wrestled like Scott Steiner at this point. Lots of throws and float over powers, et. I did dig is rolling reverse Samoan Drop and this was sort of interesting to watch but I wouldn't call it good. Mikey Whipwreck/Spike Dudley v. Dan Kroffat/Doug Furnas I was a bit disappointed with this because had Spike's really great FIP segment been longer it would have been a total homerun, but this was still a really good match. I really dug Kroffat being utterly shocked by Spike and Mikey's early double team offense and thought his heel banter with the crowd was the most I'd ever seen out of him in that regard. The real star of this was Spike who by this point had surpassed Mikey as the ultimate ragdoll in wrestling. He gets crazy air on all of his bumps here, takes a nasty Razor's Edge that covers the length of the ring, eats two perfect Furnas dropkicks, et. Spot of the match is Furnas tying up Spike in a Boston Crab, Spike rolling forward and Furnas going straight into a Giant Swing. I thought the Mikey hot tag was too early, but he was a great house of fire, they hit a really sweet assisted top rope dropkick spot, and the transition to the finish with the Can Ams getting the duke off of a top rope Hart Attack type move was really good. Danny Doring v. Taz This went way too long. I'm not sure it even went five minutes, but no way should Doring have been getting up and making offensive runs no matter how weak after taking multiple Tazplexes. On the other hand the crossfaces Doring took in this were fucking nasty as shit and made this worthwhile. Lance Storm v. Great Sasuke I actually liked parts of the beginning of this okay. It was rapid fire countering stuff but it was at least well done. About half way through things just fall apart though and you see a lot of shit that is phony as fuck looking or just done poorly. Kinda cool to see Sasuke work in this setting though. Blue Meanie v. Jason Pose down, Meanie roll up. Rob Van Dam/Sabu v. Chris Candido/Shane Douglas This was every bit the clusterfuck I thought it would be. At times it was unwatchable with Van Dam badly whiffing on things or Douglas looking as impactful as a five year old but at other times it was a charming chaotic mess with Candido flipping and flopping all around and Sabu hitting crazy shit. Overall this was okay. D-Von Dudley/Bubba Dudley v. John Kronus/New Jack I actually thought the set up for this was clever as they introduced Jeff Jones as a heel ref (fresh with head bandage from FBI match where he had been pasted with a chairshot) and said they were going to work a straight wrestling match. After Kronus and Bubba worked some amateur exchanges Big Dick came out and cheapshotted Jack with a weapon while he was on the apron. Good ref gets on the mic and throws Dick out and then New Jack - who is half under the ring - stands up with the a can full of weapons and tosses it in the ring as Natural Born Killaz starts to play. From there it is the standards New Jack prop brawl but the inventiveness of how they got their was pretty novel and fun. Also Jack levels Jones with another nasty chairshot right before the finish.
