Chris Chetti v. Little Guido

This is the best Chetti match I've ever seen. I probably liked the Corino match from Arena better but this isn't a total carry job. Chetti shows a lot of fire here and the competitive matwork spots with Guido early were actually good. The Big Sal spots can make or break a Guido match, but here they were really great with Sal getting popped and knocked on his ass by Chetti early leading to an insane missed plancha by Guido. Later Sal got in a spot and it felt like a revenge spot which was a novel touch on the Sal E. interference theme of Guido matches. This was not worked back and fourth at all like most Chetti matches and Chetti was surprisingly adept at working underneath and timing mini-comebacks. Guido was good as always. There were a few Chetti shots that didn't connect all that well, but he looked dynamic for once which makes me willing to forgive his typically lose highspots. Dug the finish.

Balls Mahoney/Axl Rotten v. Danny Doring/Roadkill

This was a really well put together tag match. Doring sucks so the logic thing to do is make him a cocky asshole who's shittiness gets taken advantage of by superior veterans. Also makes sense for Doring to tag out and hide behind Roadkill and the Roadkill-Balls section was really good. Balls hit a pretty psychotic dive for a guy his size and ended up being a compelling FIP after a fairly big in ring bump which was later one upped by Roadkill's own fat man splat. Chairshot finish is always a good exclamation and they doubled it up here. Thoroughly enjoyable tag.

Tajiri v. Super Crazy

I have two mild complaints with this. First was that the comeback spots seemed predictable as every time they ran the ropes you knew it was coming. Second complaint is that I thought the trading tornado ddt's spot was a bit unnecessary. Other than this was a tremendous match, one of the best I've seen so far. Crowd was uber hot here and both guys really seemed to feed off of it. This was a "top this" match but rather than it being spot trading, "top this" was actually the story of the match. It was not back and fourth at all and the transitions were really believable and well done. Loved the early spot of Tajiri dumping Crazy into the crowd wildly and then hitting a Asai that tore the roof off the place. Later Tajiri did the same thing and it got an even bigger pop. Tajiri's kicks looked brutal and Crazy was really connecting nicely with his stuff as well. Finish was really awesome as Crazy hit a series of top rope dropkicks and then a frog splash for a clean decisive fall. Really awesome stuff.

Sabu v. Skull Von Crush

I thought the opening mat exchange here was really well done and I thought Sabu was pretty good here, but Skull sucked. All of his offensive either looked weak or awkward and he added nothing positive to the match. Post match stuff with Taz was entertaining.

Steve Corino v. John Kronus

This was really good until Sid came in and squashed both guys. Actually Corino's insane bumps were awesome for Sid so I don't want to shit on the run in entirely but it did derail yet another awesome performance from Corino.

Jerry Lynn v. Rob Van Dam

This was standard fare for these guys. If you like these sort of matches you are going to like this. I didn't loathe it, but i don't think it did anything to distinguish itself from their other matches and I'm not going to load up the set with any more of their match ups.
