Simon Diamond v. Nova

Nova was fucking horrible in this, blowing spots some spots, doing others in slow mow and throwing dropkicks with a good foot of air in between them and Diamond. Sucked.

Billy Wiles/C.W. Anderson v. Roadkill/Danny Doring v. Balls Mahoney/Axl Rotten

I liked this a good bit until the Da Baldies ran in and fucked it up. Some sweet punches from C.W. and it seemed like Balls and Axl were really fired up. Shame the booking fucked this one up.

Steve Corino v. Jerry Lynn

Really wish this would have gone longer. Not that it was really anything special, but you get the feeling if this had been given ten instead of five or whatever it was that this could have been really good. Corino looked good and he's just the sort of guy that can reign Lynn in. Another one that could have been better.

Chris Candido v. Spike Dudley (EXTRA)

These guys had one of my all time favorite squash matches on an old episode of Hardcore TV in the build up to Taz v. Candido, where Chris dressed up like Taz for the match and just murdered Spike. So I had hopes for this coming in. Turns out I had good cause to have high hopes for this as it was really awesome, but so fucking short that I can't nominate it in good conscience. Still there is some really fucking great stuff in this from Candido. Every blow he takes from Spike he takes it like it is a shotgun blast. There is a great spot in this where Spike (after hitting a fucking tope into Thesz press that Candido made look awesome) dives from the top to the floor and splatters Candido with a chair. He was doing a weeble wobble sell already on point of impact and turned it straight into a face first Flair Flop right on the fucking concrete. My personal highlight was early in the match with Candido dominating a test of strength the crowd starts to get behind Spike. Just as Spike starts to lift Candido's arms away from the canvas Chris looks around a busts out with an absolutely hilarious "What the Hell?" that was uttered in such a fashion that it felt like a direct and dead serious verbal demonstration of complete shock. There are few guys who could pull that shit off so well. This is a match that makes you miss Candido but also makes you pissed off as he was a guy that often was booked to have fun matches but never given the time, setting and opponent to really have an all time classic. Lord knows he had the talent.

Super Crazy v. Tajiri

The early pacing of this was insane and they hit all of their spots well and included a really sweet and early crowd brawling segment. This was on its way to being another Crazy v. Tajiri nomination when Jerry Lynn ran in and ruined the proceedings. Still pretty good for what was there but this show is badly underachieving due to booking.

Tracy Smothers v. Sabu

This was interesting. Sabu gave Tracy an awful lot in this and I actually thought they clicked very well. I really loved how Tracy was just aggressively peppering Sabu with shots every time he tried to take advantage. He also did a good job taking Sabu's offense, at one point leaping in the air off of a nasty punch and later taking a throat first plunge into an up right chair that looked like a legit jawbreaker. There was a badly blown spot in this but when Tracy didn't hit it right he jumped on Sabu immediately, beat him down with fist, did the spot again and then screamed at the crowd "Fuck This Up!" which was pretty funny. I really liked Tracy's selling in this as well. I'm not sure it was wise to have Tracy kick out of as much stuff as he did, but it had a logical progression to it and it definitely made the finish seem really important like Sabu had to go the extra mile to beat him. There was also a spear in this from Tracy that's better than anything Edge has ever done.

Rob Van Dam v. Little Gudio

Really slow moving and deliberate with a lot of stuff looking fake. There were moments where I thought Guido looked good in this but Van Dam is not an easy guy to work with. Not good. Probably the worst Guido match I've seen.

Rhino v. The Sandman

Some shitty camera work early from Gabe. This might have been okay if it was given a chance as these two have had at least one match I liked a fair amount. Instead this was just another match from the show used to get over a developing storyline with Raven/Sandman/Dreamer.

Taz v. Mike Awesome

This just felt flat. I'm wondering if this was Taz last match with the company. The crowd brawling early in this was fairly spirited but when they got back to the ring it really was a "going through the motions" affair and Taz walking out right after the finish was pretty fucking shitty.
