Posted August 2, 201015 yr comment_5453825 FBI v. Blue Meanie/Super Nova Another really fun FBI match. What I liked about this was that they got all of the comedy spot out of the way early and they fed right into the heat section with Nova hitting a pretty sweet tope onto Smothers and Guido but then being taken out by Rich. Heat segment was unusually well developed by the standards of ECW tags with several teased hot tag spots, including a few that were cut off at the very last second by Smothers and Guido. I also thought the FBI brought more offensive fire than normal, which is admittedly their biggest weakness as an act. I could have done without the stupid ass move Nova used to set up the hot tag, but Meanie was a good house of fire and the finish with the Big Don breaking up the moonsault attempt with the flag shots for the pin was good. Justin Credible v. Chris Chetti Pretty sloppy affair though not as horrible as it could have been on paper. Sal e. Graziano v. John Kronus Nothing match. Sal squashes Kronus. Sal E. Graziano v. Spike Dudley And then Spike squashes Sal. Jerry Lynn v. Mikey Whipwreck Really typical, back and fourth, Jerry Lynn style match. Mikey took some pretty nice bumps for him, but this is the sort of mindless exhibition of moves that I would loathe even if the offense was "cool" - and it wasn't. Chris Candido v. Lance Storm This was a match with a lot of problems but the worst thing about it was you knew the whole thing was just building to the catfight segment (that ended with Sunny pinning Storm?). Candido bumped really crazy in this. Post-match with Candido stripping down to his man thong was odd. Balls Mahoney v. Masato Tanaka I liked this an awful lot. In a post-Benoit wrestling World where we are all supposed to be mortified by unprotected chairshots to the head this is pretty much a heretical pairing but I don't really give a fuck. These two really demolish each other with everything they have. Tanaka and Balls both have an every man charisma that radiates off of them at key moments in this. I thought this had a lot of dangerous stuff in it but nothing so dangerous that it was appalling and the violence was pretty well dispersed. Nearfall segment was really well done here too and it went just the right length for a match of this sort. Rod Price v. Sandman Sadly this devolved into a wild string of run-ins because this was really good up until that point. Sandman is one of the more underrated sellers ever and he was really selling his ass off for Price who brought his A game and some pretty good offense. Sandman's comeback was fiery too. Suplex table spot almost always looks stupid but here it looked good and Price almost killed himself on an insane head first bump to the floor. God damn the clusterfuck non-finish. One Man Gang v. Spike Dudley Gang had cleared the ring from the aforementioned clusterfuck and Spike came down to save the day. Just another in a long line of Spike flash wins which is too bad because I'd be really interested to see these guys go ten minutes. D-Von Dudley/Bubba Dudley v. Sabu/RVD This was fairly entertaining. Lots of ringside antics with Sign Guy going through a table, Big Dick isolating Van Dam while the Dudz double teamed Sabu, and Fonzy breaking up pin attempts and just jumping around being Fonzy. Taz running in to be the saving grace of RVD and Sabu was a bit odd but I guess he had to make an appearance on this show one way or the other.
