Posted August 2, 201015 yr comment_5453826 Another really fun FBI match. What I liked about this was that they got all of the comedy spot out of the way early and they fed right into the heat section with Nova hitting a pretty sweet tope onto Smothers and Guido but then being taken out by Rich. Heat segment was unusually well developed by the standards of ECW tags with several teased hot tag spots, including a few that were cut off at the very last second by Smothers and Guido. I also thought the FBI brought more offensive fire than normal, which is admittedly their biggest weakness as an act. I could have done without the stupid ass move Nova used to set up the hot tag, but Meanie was a good house of fire and the finish with the Big Don breaking up the moonsault attempt with the flag shots for the pin was good.
August 5, 201015 yr comment_5454005 I didn't mind the pre-dance routine or even the dance routine section until the ref got involved. When the ref starts bodyslamming wrestlers, I start to tune out. However, post-dancing was all good. Anytime, you can get a basic southern tag in an ECW match, you take it. I think the dance off would have been better served at the very beginning of the match. As it is, it really broke up the flow of a very good Southern tag. Also, I had no problem with Nova's faceplant thingie. The end was a little flat as I didn't think that Rich hit Meanie that hard with the flag pole and we are used to 15 weapon shots a match in most cases. I can support the low-end nomination but nothing I would fight for. Another one in the Tracy Smothers comp file.
October 20, 201014 yr comment_5457419 The Full Blooded Italians (Little Guido & Tracy Smothers) vs. Blue Meanie & Super Nova (9/5/98) Goddamn I love the FBI and the comedy early in the match was great featuring the danceoff featuring Jim Mollineaux and this has gone into total Osaka Pro territory which was fine to me. Nova took the FBI out with a tope on the floor but Rich would throw him neck first on the railing giving FBI the advantage. This turned into a nice little Southern tag style match with FBI getting the heat on Nova then taking out Meanie any time that Nova tried to get the tag. Meanie would get the hot tag and ran wild on FBI before the 4-way brawl started with Meanie going up for the moonsault and Rich hitting him with the flagpole for the win. This was really fun and wasn't like your normal FBI match as they used some thorough psychology. This should move forward.
