DVD #18

8/22/87

1. Nick Bockwinkle vs. Isamu Teranishi (4:25 shown) - Weird that Bockwinkel was paired with the cruisers on this tour. He did some nice legwork before putting away Teranishi fairly easily with a piledriver.

2. Hiroshi Wajima vs. Gene Ligon (7:16 shown) - Ligon drilled Wajima with some crisp forearms but wasn't treated as a serious threat.

3. Yoshiaki Yatsu/Shinnichi Nakano vs. Dick Slater/Stan Hansen (8:33 shown) I enjoyed watching Nakano take the fight to Hansen and then get decapitated for his effort. But it wasn't a high-end match.

4. Jumbo Tsuruta/Great Kabuki vs. Genichiro Tenryu/Ashura Hara (&:38 shown - Reviewed on Classics.

1. Nick Bockwinkle vs. Mighty Inoue (9:18 shown) - They traded some slick matwork early and Bockwinkel got rougher and rougher with Inoue as they went on. Inoue countered with some nifty flying to set up a few nearfalls before Bockwinkel polished him off. Solid little match that has no shot at the set.

2. Yoshiaki Yatsu/Shinnichi Nakano vs. Dick Slater/Joel Deaton (8:44 shown) - Hansen showed up at ringside to destroy the natives and generally act like a crazy person. Deaton and Slater spent most of the match stomping and clubbing on the wounded Yatsu. Bloody Nakano delivered a jolt of energy off the hot tag, and Yatsu returned to finish Deaton with his leglock. Another fine match that doesn't call for a wider viewing.

3. Hiroshi Wajima/Takashi Ishikawa vs. Stan Hansen/Austin Idol (5:40 shown) - Idol looked pretty awkward. I always enjoy Hansen's lariat finishes on lower-ranked guys; Ishikawa took a nice, snap bump in this case.

4. Genichiro Tenryu/Ashura Hara vs. Jumbo Tsuruta/Tiger Mask (6:04 shown) - Episode ended just as this was picking up. Weird.
