Shoehi Baba/Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Genichiro Tenryu/Ashura Hara (11/30/81) - Interesting to watch Jumbo and Tenryu work against each other without the surliness. I liked the exchanges when Tenryu backed Jumbo up with sumo chops and Jumbo retaliated with strong forearms. Baba didn't do a whole lot, and the crowd was pretty silent until Tenryu and Hara hit Jumbo with an elbow off the top, a lariat off the top and piledriver. But Jumbo shook off the damage and pinned Hara with a backslide. This might be a good choice for your Tenryu comp, Will, as an early example of him working against his mentors. But it wasn't a great match. Terry Funk vs. Ashura Hara (12/3/81) - Terry spent too much of the match lying in a loose Hara armbar. I enjoyed his eventual rally and Hara's last stand, but this fell on the bland side of Funk's All Japan stuff. Shoehi Baba/Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Tiger Jeet Singh/Umanosuke Ueda (12/13/81) - The crowd seemd genuinely concerned when Singh choked Baba against the ring post, and Jumbo showed a lot of fire after taking the hot tag. So it was an above-average Singh match. But he and Ueda just weren't very dynamic in their attack, and they went to their usual chaotic non-finish.
