Posted August 12, 201015 yr comment_5454380 DVD #20 9/18/88 (taped 9/15/88? ) Footloose vs. Shinnichi Nakano/Shunji Takano - Reviewed on Classics. Genichiro Tenryu/Ashura Hara vs. Great Kabuki/Takashi Ishikawa - The ref called the match off at an arbitrary point, apparently because Kabuki was hurt. Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Abdullah the Butcher - Reviewed on Classics. 9/25/88 (taped ? ) Rock and Roll Express vs. Masa Fuchi/Mighty Inoue - More blah R 'n' R in All Japan. Hiroshi Wajima/Takashi Ishikawa vs. Genichiro Tenryu/Samson Fuyuki - Ishikawa was the standout though he suffered the ignoble fate of taking the pin from Fuyuki. That guy always gave a good effort though he might not make the set enough to become a surprise hit a la Hoshino. Anyway, the match was disjointed and the Fuyuki pin felt kind of random after Tenryu had carried the action for his team. Jumbo Tsuruta/Yoshiaki Yatsu vs. Dan Spivey/Dan Kroffat - Kroffat looked good in his first TV appearance, though he and Spivey could have been wrestling in different matches for all their synergy. Overall, nothing remarkable.
August 12, 201015 yr comment_5454385 I have loved all the Ishikawa I have seen in WAR. I would love to see him show up on this set, he feels like a really under the rader worker.
August 13, 201015 yr Author comment_5454388 He'll definitely make the set. He's just one of those guys who makes a stronger impression if you're grinding through hundreds of weeks of TV and seeing the consistent effort he put into tossoff matches. He was very rarely showcased.
