Posted August 18, 201015 yr comment_5454615 PWF Heavyweight Title: Giant Baba © vs. Stan "The Lariat" Hansen (7/30/85) This is like the 3/24/84 match as far as psychology goes Baba wise as he works over Hansen's left arm which is the lariat arm. I like Hansen pulling down his kneepad to deliver a knee to the back of Baba's head then the front showing that he was meaning business but Baba would go back to work on the arm. Baba crushing Hansen with a legdrop was great but Hansen would come firing back with his lariat though that took Baba to the floor and Hansen to the mat in pain. They would brawl on the floor and Baba would wrap Hansen's arm around the ringpost then went back to work on it relentlessly. Hansen knowing that he must do something then hits a big dropkick to Baba on the floor as the fans go nuts but Baba would work his way back to the ring with Hansen giving him a backdrop from the apron that put Baba away giving Hansen the title. Baba was awesome here working over the arm and Hansen was great showing his desperation getting the victory and this is an easy nomination. Dory & Terry Funk vs. Ted DiBiase & Stan "The Lariat" Hansen (8/29/85) DiBiase isn't in his Hansen colors yet as he wears red here and Dory's goatee is awesome. This is good back and forth action and I liked when DiBiase & Terry was in as they were working well together but it looked like to me that Dory & Stan were just going through the motions. Watching DiBiase & Terry go at it made me wish we got a good feud between these two around this time period because they were bringing it. The action would heat up at the end of course as both teams brawled on the floor as Hansen gave Terry a piledriver but Dory would make it back in and we would get Dory breaking out the TEXAS CLOVERLEAF as Hansen was pulled back to the floor by Terry. Hansen who had one shoe on then came back in the ring and just nailed Dory with a lariat which Joe Higuchi called a DQ. Dory was then destroyed with the cowbell afterwards and juiced as Terry just stood on the floor throwing chairs in the ring. This match was really getting hot at the end until the horrible DQ call by Higuchi which kills it as a nomination but this was very fun. AWA & PWF World Heavyweight Titles vs. NWA International Heavyweight Title: Stan "The Lariat" Hansen © vs. Jumbo Tsuruta (3/29/86) Lots of belts here to go around and Lord James Blears carries them well. This is a big match for Korakuen Hall and the fans are into it big time. This was basically a Jumbo/Hansen by numbers match that featured some fun spots on the floor as Jumbo missing a high knee into the ringpost then Hansen backdropping him into the crowd prompting a double countout. Jumbo then went nuts after the match using a chair then brawled some more before the pull apart. Fine for what it was but not a nomination. Next is Hansen winning the AWA title from Martel which we'll cover in AWA.
