Tajiri v. Kid Kash

I love Tajiri, but Kash has impressed me a lot so far in watching for this thing. The opening of this was really great as you get Tajiri's taunting and him punting Kash in the face and then a great spot where Kash kicks through on a Tajiri attempted flip, followed by a bunch of arm drags. Tajiri bails and Kash botches a dive in the weirdest way I've ever seen as he seems to try a flip slingshot plancha even though Tajiri is clearly in place for the trademark lengthy Kash dive. They blow right through that, Kash hits a different dive, they go back to the ring and it's more fast paced stuff before Tajiri gets Kash's face off while hamming it up for the crowd some more. Tajiri does this great blankfaced sell of a tornado ddt, so Kash goes for another and Tajiri kicks his face off of his head. Kash eventually tries to steal a fall with a backslide and then Tajiri kills him dead with a brainbuster. As fast paced sprints go this isn't as clean as the Calo match from Dec. of 99, but it is a damn fun performance by Tajiri and if Kash doesn't wreck that spot this would be a borderline Easy nomination. It was a pretty bad fuck up, but not enough to keep this one from going through.

Nova/Chris Chetti v. Impact Players

I love how every Lance Storm match has him working the "safest" way possible, i.e. fakest way possible and features him making swarmy comments while exchanging holds with his opponents. Nova was pretty clearly the best guy in this just because his big spots looked good and like they might actually hurt someone. Realistically this wasn't that bad, in fact it had some really fun moments, but there was way too much Chetti and Storm for it to be a good match.

Super Crazy v. Little Guido

This was as sprintastic as Kash v. Tajiri, but lacked anything as awesome as Tajiri's facial expressions or kicks. Having said that Guido cutting off the opening Crazy barrage with a Fujiwara armbar was pretty awesome and I loved Crazy losing his shit over Sale's attempted interference and just hitting crazy dives into the crowd as a way of channeling his rage. Good definitive finish here as well which is the best part about Crazy matches. To be honest I would have nominated this if Guido's control segment was slightly longer but as it was it couldn't duplicate Kash v. Tajiri and it didn't have enough to make it stand out as must see.

Kintaro Kanemura v. C.W. Anderson

Kanemura continues his run of entertaining matches. This was another fast paced match continuing the trend of the night. Kanemura hit his big dive, took his flip bump off the clothesline and hit his senton. C.W. won with a Lou E. assisted spinebuster. Solid little match, nothing more.

Gedo/Jado v. Danny Doring/Roadkill

I was pretty indifferent to this. I liked Roadkill's double clothesline spot a lot, but Gedo/Jedo working over Doring is not my idea of quality wrestling.

New Jack v. Steve Corino

This is New Jack beating the shit out of Jack Victory while Corino lays around. Then Tajiri comes out Rhino gores New Jack and the match is over. Not much.

Mike Awesome v. Masato Tanaka

I'm not a big fan of this series to begin with, but this really wasn't very good even for the style they were working. Lots of the shots in this came off looking really weak and the camera angle here makes Mike Awesome's "spectacular" dives look pretty pathetic. Raven ends up running in near the finish and we are led to believe that his DDT is far more deadly than getting powerbombed to shit or taken tons of shots to the head with chairs. Blah. Dreamer running out and getting powerbombed was probably the highlight of this.

Angel v. Sandman

Well this seemed like a real waste. Match is all built around Sandman losing his cane and reclaiming it, but Angel really doesn't have enough in him to do anything of value in the interim.

Vic Grimes v. Balls Mahoney (Exploding Barbed Wire Board)

This was actually pretty entertaining because of Balls. The big spots were reasonably well built to and Balls charisma and selling kept me more interested than I usually am in matches like this. A nice effort.
