Posted August 21, 201015 yr comment_5454754 Axl Rotten v. Spike Dudley I thought this was quite good. Axl is starting to stand out to me as a guy that really was pretty good at certain things. Here he was really great shit talking the crowd and getting them all riled up. Every time he would go on offense the viewer is drawn to that and you forget the fact that he really doesn't have many weapons and that's actually pretty smart work. I thought Spike's comeback nearfalls with the bulldog and victory roll were really well done and his ragdolling and selling were great. The over the top rope backdrop bump cutoff spot was sick and insane and the reverse brainbuster finish was definitive and surprising. I seriously didn't see Axl winning this one and I was nervous Spike was going to kick out of that one. When he didn't I actually popped. Good match. Chris Chetti v. Taz I actually enjoyed this because it was Taz cursing out fans and beating the shit out of Chetti for a five minutes. Nothing really stands out from this, but as a somewhat competitive squash it was not bad. Pitbull 2/Balls Mahoney v. Chris Candido/Brian Lee Pre-match Pitbull I tries to work the match with a broken neck and they shoot an angle where Pitbull 2 has to go it alone which leads to Mahoney coming out mid-match. This sucked. Shitty clusterfuck with nowhere near enough violence to offset the crap. Tommy Dreamer/Beulah v. Shane Douglas/Francine Amazingly this was probably the second best match on the show. The opening segment with Douglas and Dreamer was really hard hitting with some big bumps from Dreamer and Douglas. Francine hitting a flip senton off of Douglas shoulder was amusing. This fell apart near the end but it was not bad overall. D-Von Dudley/Bubba Dudley v. Eliminators v. Gangstas This sucked, though New Jack's dive off the top of a Ryder truck was pretty cool. Raven v. Steve Richards (Sandman as guest ref) This was fairly good for an overbooked clusterfuck with one guy who isn't very good. Richards knocking over Sandman's beer early was a funny moment and I thought the crowd brawling was pretty fun. The finishing run was nonsense but at least the stuff was well executed for once.
