Ian Rotten Ian is out with the barbed wire bat and this is pre-total hair loss Bull Pain so I am excited. This starts off simple with some good basic shots and then turns into the fucking demolition derby. Ian stiffs Bull with chairshots and barbed wire baseball bat shots and Bull responds by crotching Ian nastily on the guardrail and hitting a running clothesline off the apron. He then misses an ill advised sprinboard off of a chair spot though it wasn't a match. Back in the ring he DDT's ian to shit and man are these chair shots brutal. Then Bull kills Ian with some barbed wire bat shots before taking a fucking press slam off the apron the floor from Ian. They are hitting each other with stuff fans brought and in a really nightmarish fashion. Then Bull fucking suplexes Ian on the floor. The finish with Ian reversing a top rope superplex for the pin felt really uneventful after all of this shit but man this was stiff as hell. Raven/Steve Richards v. The Pitbulls Fundamentally this was not terrible. The problem is that with the exception of Richards, who is essentially a comedic character, none of these guys have the sort of ring presence, charisma or ability to hold your interest. This actually needed to be a poorly structured mess in order to be "good." Well structured does not soot this pairing well. Sandman v. ?? I tried to track down who the fuck Sandman is working here on History of the WWE, but this match isn't even listed on the show. This is Sandman beating the shit out of this dude with cane shots and nasty offense. Fun squash. Post match Mikey beats up Sandman with the cane. Steiners v. Too Cold Scorpio/Dean Malenko I really enjoyed the opening matwork in this as you had a real contrast of sorts with Scorp and Malenko bringing the flash and speed and Scott Steiner working a more traditional amateur wrestling style and relying pure power. Rick Steiner was interesting to watch in this one as well because he looked legitimately annoyed to be working in such a shit hole and his rather cavalier dismissals of Scorp and Malenko offensive attempts actually added to the match in a bizarre way. Stretch run of this was pretty sweet as the crowd really started going when Scorp rolled out the moonsault and though the execution of frankensteiner was pretty poor I thought the build to it as the culminating spot was cool. This was not a great match and was awkward in parts but I think it was good enough to pass on to another pair of eyes. Tommy Dreamer v. Dudley Dudley Dudley dominates and Dreamer wins on a fluke. Then the Dudz beat down Dreamer. REally bizarre. Too Cold Scorpio v. Eddie Guerrero Good lord this had a methodical pace in the early going. In no way am I an opponent of a slow build for a match but this was really, really slow build considering who was involved. They hit some really cool stuff in this and I liked the run at the finish a good bit but this match really did not grab me at all. I actually think these guys were a bad match for each other, which seems insane, but I think the Arena match was underwhelming too. Johnny Grunge v. New Jack These guys hit each other with stuff and wander around aimlessly. Mustapha Saed v. Rocco Rock Rock halfway tries to have a real match here albeit a brief one. I applaud his efforts but Mustapha is one of the worst wrestlers of all time.
