Posted August 27, 201015 yr comment_5455039 Guido selling frustration early in exchanges with extremely young Doring and Roadkill was pretty cool and a smart way to put a couple of rookies over. Smothers come in and immediately starts with the grandstanding and shit talking - again a smart tactic against guys this green. Smothers is really great here working basic shit and building to a couple of big offensive spots from Roadkill. Babyfaces get the best of the heels on the floor and we get the "we're bailing!" heel spot. Roadkill ends up eating a misdirection kick from Guido and then takes a really nasty baseball slide from Tracy. God damn the FBI are great during the control segment working ref distraction, taking cheapshots at Doring, Guido bragging after slamming Roadkill, simple but effective double teams, et. Crowd starts chanting boring and Smothers and Guido actually ENCOURAGE this which is pretty brilliant because it has the effect of flipping the script and resulting in real heat. There is a slight flub on the missed dropkick that leads to the hot tag, but then Smothers hits an insane Dustin Rhodes esque below the bottom rope bump off of a knee from Doring. Finish comes out of nowhere off of a double russian legsweep, but I thought this was really brilliantly worked by the FBI.

FBI Solid Nomination - FanCam 7-10-97 (3 hr fancam) - I love Smothers but Guido has really rown on me after watching so much of this stuff. Tommy rich is missing and while Smothers & Guido hold up just fine, it just doesn’t seem as fun without him. I used to hear so many positive things about Doring/Roadkill but they are a really generic tag team. They aren’t bad here but just really generic. Killer spot, where Guido whips Roadkill on the outside while Smothers swings in a baseball kick. To put him down. Wicked. Guido and Smothers work so well together. Well, I am loving the match and the fans chant boring. So, Smothers kicks Roadkill in the face and asks them “What’s so boring about that?” fuck these fans. Some bad fans, vanilla face team and some awkward comeback spots from Doring and Roadkill kill the locked nomination in my view. I’ll go low-level with the stipulation we can revisit it if need be.
November 15, 201014 yr comment_5458345 The Full Blooded Italians (Little Guido & Tracy Smothers) vs. "Dastardly" Danny Doring & Roadkill (7/10/97) No Tommy Rich which wasn't good but the other two held their own especially Smothers. Doring & Roadkill were not good as faces and both were green as grass but the FBI carried them big time here to a good match which is a testament to them. The boring chants were bad but the worst was the total whiff of a dropkick by Guido that was supposed to hit Smothers which missed and Smothers bumped for anyway. They recovered from that to have a good finish and this is a nomination in my eyes.
