Posted August 27, 201015 yr comment_5455055 Roadkill/Danny Doring v. Mikey Whipwreck/Chris Chetti pre-Amish Roadkill stalling is amusing for some reason. The Chetti/Roadkill exchange in this is interesting as it looks like Chetti is taking out House of Hardcore frustrations on Roadkill punching him way harder than normal. Roadkill taking swipes at Mikey and missing during rope running exchanges was a strange quirk because I couldn't tell if it was intentional or not. This is actually a really spirited tag. They build to the big spots well and I was impressed by how well it was structured. Even Chetti looked fairly good in this. In some ways this was similar to the Mikey/Hack Myers v. Paul Lauria/Jason tags from early 95 as you've got a bunch of young guys working out the kinks, albeit in this instance Mikey is a vet there to keep things from getting out of control. You might have wanted the heels to bring a bit more on the lengthy control segment they ran over Chetti, but the hot tag was well done and the finish looked really good. Solid match. For what in some respects amounts to a trainee match you aren't going to do much better. Jerry Lynn v. Justin Credible Credible is wrestling with a beanie on his head early which Lynn pulls over his eyes during his offensive run. They hit some big spots early and they look good. Credible slows it down and goes to a chinlock which he works for what seems like forever. He relishes it as it gives him an opportunity to spit on the crowd and talk about fucking peoples mothers. I usually think these guys work fairly well together, but this was really flat. Tommy Rogers v. Chris Candido They did a good job here mixing in comedic spots from Candido, some really stiff strikes from both guys and some well built to and executed highspots. Payback spots are not always that well done in ECW so I was also pleasantly surprised to see Rogers return some early favors from Candido, including his own suplex on the floor. Rogers piledriver looked awkward here, but I love Candido's powerbomb/pass out spot and we got it again in this one. This is one of those rare matches that starts slow and somewhere over the course of what feels like a pretty solid match, you realize you are watching something really fucking good. And then just in time to ruin an otherwise good match we get a bunch of heel ref bullshit, a Lance Storm run in, et. Rogers does win this win in semi-clean fashion which was nice but the finish really pissed me off. Al Snow v. Paul Diamond This was pretty hard hitting and fun and then Diamond hit the worst baseball slide ever. Match really falls apart at that point. Diamond is a disappointment in ECW. Pitbull 2 v. Sandman Boy I really am a mark for Sandman's vault plancha. As odd as this sounds, I prefer Pitbull 2 as a babyface because he really isn't credible to me getting beatin to shit which is too bad because most of Sandman's stuff looks good here. Overall this wasn't very good though Sandman looked solid in it. Pitbull 1 v. Taz Total squash Rob Van Dam v. Tommy Dreamer Dreamer is crazy to take that stairs tumble bump as often as he takes on these shows. Anyhow this match was boring as piss though it does sort of illustrate how much better Dreamer was than Van Dam at this point which is something I guess. FBI v. Axl Rotten/Balls Mahoney v. New Jack/Spike Dudley v. D-Von Dudley/Bubba Dudley Evil ref is ringside so there is going to be a lot more bullshit in this then I care to see. This is just a wild brawl. Guido takes some huge bumps in this. Spike gets his ass kicked. I have no clue what the fuck is going on or where the FBI went. Whatever.
