Posted August 27, 201015 yr comment_5455059 I love all of the Candido and Smothers exchanges in this. Not only do we get dueling leg trip spots from the seconds, but you get some really tight looking strikes, a great pace and some solid technique from both guys. The Guido toss spot in this is really awesome and the follow up dive from Storm works really well too. I usually hate Storm, but I think he looked good here both hitting his spots and taking bumps. Rich punching him in the face was admittedly a mark out moment. This whole match is less goofy FBI and more pissed off FBI and it really makes this distinct from a lot of their stuff. This was on it's way to being a really great match when the silly stuff starts. Don't get me wrong, Rich kissing Francine and Candido was funny, but it really didnt' fit what they had been doing up to that point. To make matters worse the finish is botched and unclear. The body of this was really great and different enough where I think it deserves to pass through, but the finish is as frustrating as anything I've seen so far.
October 24, 201014 yr comment_5457568 FBI vs. Chris Candido/Lance Storm Low End Nomination - FanCam 12-13-97 - Say what you want about Storm but that top rope back elbow was SWANK! Anyway, I have a soft spot for Storm’s rat tail. Nice car crash sequence outside and Storm plasy to the crowd. The Smothers-Candido sequence was really fun and I was worried when Storm came in but FBI work him over pretty good and Storm can bump well enough. Oh Christ, the Guido stomp with the Tracy kicks to the head looked cool. Dude, Dylan, this is the best I have seen Storm look besides the Dreamer street fight. His offense connected really well and FbI were near perfect. This may be my favorite FBI match. Candido and Storm were on fire and FBI have never looked better. Plenty of near falls and then Storm and the ref ruin a spot to cut my sentence short. Rich kissing Francine redeems it somewhat. Still, this is a nomination. EDIT: Read your thoughts. I agree except I think the body was strong enough up to the botched ref bump that I think it is a solid nom.
November 18, 201014 yr comment_5458410 ECW World Tag Titles: "No Gimmicks Needed" Chris Candido & Lance Storm © vs. The Full Blooded Italians (Little Guido & Tracy Smothers) (12/13/97) Now this was a good match as you had a different dynamic here with heels vs. heels so there was no real FIP section in this as you had both teams just taking turns beating on each other and everyone looked good here. There is some silly stuff at the end but it's expected with the FBI and the work here was so solid that this is a easy nomination to me.
