Posted August 28, 201015 yr comment_5455076 This was pretty great. Match is really broken down into three parts. First part is Mikey getting the best of Richards with armwork. They will come up for a high spot here or there but Mikey is controlling him and Richards can't get a break or get free of him. The second part is Richards control segment. This is bridged to very well by an epic top rope bump from Richards and a great Mikey plancha. Richards cuts off this run with a power bomb but sells a bit before coming back to offense. As usual Mikey makes a good rag doll and Richards does a good job throwing him around with some suplexes. Mikey's hope spots are very well executed and believable as are the nearfalls. Final segment of this is Mikey's attempted flurries of offense building to the Richards finish. In particular I thought the spot with the missed splash looked great and I enjoyed the sit down on the powerbomb. Superkick came out of nowhere and it really seemed like a last gasp for Richards. Both guys came out of this looking like a million bucks. I'm probably not doing this justice, but this is one of the better ECW matches I've seen from 95. Maybe the best Richards match I've ever seen period.
November 1, 201014 yr comment_5457853 "Dancin" Stevie Richards vs. Mikey Whipwreck (10/27/95) This was a revelation here and this actually may have been Stevie's best singles match of his career as he worked this seriously and went toe for toe with Mikey who at this point was one of the best around. Mikey is great taking a beating and Richards was solid here dishing out the punishment with the pacing for the entire match being very sound. Mikey had Stevie on the ropes but a desperation Superkick would put him away to end this. This was really really good and a easy nomination.
November 26, 201014 yr comment_5458689 Mikey Whipwreck v. Steve Richards Easy Nomination - FanCam 10-27-95 - I just wanna say that this is a really weird venue to have a match in. It reminds me of the ROH venue where the lights blind you the entire match. 2nd match today where I am digging Stevie’s act. Highlights include Stevie’s powerbomb and his control segment post-powerbomb. I endorse this match but if we ever vote on this set, I’ll need to rewatch it to see if it would crack my top half.
