FBI v. Chris Chetti/Jerry Lynn

 

Smothers is awesome in this, shit talking like crazy, exaggerating every bump, dishing out fucking backrakes, et. I really liked the spot that led to the FBI control segment as Smothers big bump served as a believable theatric distraction letting The Big Don get in his cheapshot on Lynn. FBI double team tactics were solid, and the Smothers pump kick was an unexpected deviation from the norm that came off well. Man Rich's bump on the Chetti comeback spot was fucking insane here too. Good match fucked up by the horrible Chetti botching his own finisher.

 

Doug Furnas v. Too Cold Scorpio

 

Boy Scorp is good in this. Furnas has been horrible in ECW but they work a pretty even kilter mat exchange to start things which results in Scorpio taking a really nutty delayed face plant bump on the floor. Furnas works him over on the floor and Scorp ends up taking over with some nasty forums and a really good looking missle dropkick. Then he cross arm powerbombs him to shit. There are some flubs in here - all on Furnas end - but Scorp hitting a nasty spinkick and then winning with a cool roll up still made it fun. Boy Furnas sucked in ECW.

 

Fatu v. Mikey Whipwreck

 

I think that is Fatu anyhow. Quick but enjoyable match. Would have liked to see Mikey pinball more, but Fatu took some crazy bumps including Banzai dropping into a seated chair.

 

Axl Rotten/Balls Mahoney v. Chris Candido/Lance Storm

 

Man I hate the feuding partners gimmick with Storm and Candido. They ambush Balls and Axl and than storm turns on Candido pre-match and then they have to work with each other? Ugh. Balls gets stretchered out, so this turns into a pseud-three way dance given the heels hatred for each other. Match is pretty blah. post-match Doring and Roadkill come out and get beaten up.

 

Lance Storm v. Chris Candido

 

Fast paced match with some okay spots. I just can't stand to watch this gimmick anymore at this point. I will say that Candido appeared to be trying really hard to have a good match.

 

Bubba Dudley v. Spike Dudley

 

JIP but I think we only lost a minute. Spike takes an insane bump on his head off of a Bubba back suplex early. Man Spike gets beat up in this. Say what you want about Bubba but his big slams always look killer and Spike knows how to take them and sell them better than anyone else. Spike's first comeback i sorta botched but I didn't mind since Bubba powerbombed him brutally. New Jack stuff ruins this.

 

Al Snow v. Rob Van Dam

 

Al Snow steals a quick pin. Huh?

 

Tommy Dreamer v. Bam Bam Bigelow

 

This started off slow with Bammer working over the injured Tommy but I really liked this once Dreamer went on offense as he really exploded with anger on Bigelow and it was a pick me up. Overall this was okay.
