Super Crazy v. Tajiri v. Little Guido

As wild spotfest go this is about as good as is possibly going to get. Really loved how this started as they did a "testing the waters" segment at the beginning and then they just went off the races. Lots of cool shots and big spots in this but that's not what put this over the top. What really makes this a great match is the little stuff. Tajiri hitting a miss direction hilo on the floor when he gets whipped into the corner. Crazy and Tajiri spreading apart on an attempted Guido plancha and having him faceplant right at the last second. There is a really great camera shot where Guido and Tajiri are grappling in the crowd after Sal E. takes out Crazy in the ring that I thought got across a feeling of hatred that these matches usually lack. I also loved the whole Crazy elimination sequence. Crazy chooses to moonsault Sal E. as payback for his previous interference but gets caught and powerslammed through a table. Tajiri was watching this while he had Guido tied to the tree of woe and then after a long pause goes for the sliding dropkick bus misses and gets caught with a top rope legdrop from Guido for his trouble. Than Sal E. rolls Crazy in who gets caught in a Boston Crab and immediately taps. Again not the sort of thing you expect in a Three Way but man was it done well. Later Tajiri gets his payoff on the corner dropkick and immediately after kills Guido with the brainbuster for the finish. This was just a brilliantly worked spotfest/sprint with far more depth than the average match of this sort and actually a fair amount of internal psych and build which is totally absent from this stuff usually. Post-match angle with Tajiri/Corino/Taz confrontation was great as well.

El Mosco Del Merced v. Tony Devito

I actually like the contrast here as Devito seems legit befuddled by Merced. It was like watching Funk v. Poffo from 85 WWF with Devito getting pissed off at Merced's flippy stuff. Merced was a fucking beast here. He was just destroying Devito and Billy Wiles with strikes and big dives. The inside out senton was particularly brutal, but all of his stuff looked both dynamic and vicious which is not an easy combo. I actually liked Devito's power offense a lot in this too as it was super stiff and hate filled. Even the interference spots sort of added to this, especially after Devito appeared to blow his shoulder. There have been better matches, and this was short, but this would be a good random undercard match to toss on the set and add some flavor.

Lance Storm v. Jerry Lynn

This was actually a pretty fun sprint. I don't know what got into these two but they were both working uncharacteristically stiff with their strikes in this and though everything was rapid fire, the exchanges all were clean and seemed more logical than they usually do in affairs like this. I really loved Lynn's escape of Storm's single leg crab. I might have even vouched for this with a nomination if there wasn't a lengthy run-in train involving Sabu, RVD, Credible, et. Still a good match overall.

Danny Doring v. Nova

Another decent sprint, though the Chetti run-in here was really stupid and Roadkill had a rare botch on his interference spot.

Skull Von Krush v. Angel

Yet ANOTHER decent sprint. This was worked really stiff and Krush's mock people's elbow spot was actually pretty funny and irreverent without being business exposing or overly silly. I actually wish this had gone a tad longer.

Francine v. Steve Corino

Not really a match but a good segment with Dreamer/Corino mic work.

Balls Mahoney v. Rob Van Dam

I thought this was pretty much the perfect way to offset RVD's bullshit. This match is basically Balls taking RVD's shots square to the head and delivering his shots just as heavy. To RVD's credit he actually took the balls leg lariat over the ropes well and Balls totally let him airball a flip plancha which must of hurt like fuck. But what made this match to me was the nearfall segment. Lots of Fonzy bullshit and RVD prop stuff but Mahoney kept kicking out and seemed to get progressively annoyed and more and more nasty with his responses. Loved his frog splash which looks like it destroyed Van Dam and I also loved him kicking out of a shitty Van Daminator and stiffing RVD with a chairshot. Finish sort of sucked and I doubt others will like this as much as me, but I thought for a match with RVD traveling prop show this was as good as you are going to get.

Justin Credible v. Sabu

This was alright. Sabu fucked up a spot are two and Credible didn't bump enough to make this anything special but it wasn't intolerable and at least there weren't a shit ton of run-ins.
