I thought this was pretty much the perfect way to offset RVD's bullshit. This match is basically Balls taking RVD's shots square to the head and delivering his shots just as heavy. To RVD's credit he actually took the balls leg lariat over the ropes well and Balls totally let him airball a flip plancha which must of hurt like fuck. But what made this match to me was the nearfall segment. Lots of Fonzy bullshit and RVD prop stuff but Mahoney kept kicking out and seemed to get progressively annoyed and more and more nasty with his responses. Loved his frog splash which looks like it destroyed Van Dam and I also loved him kicking out of a shitty Van Daminator and stiffing RVD with a chairshot. Finish sort of sucked and I doubt others will like this as much as me, but I thought for a match with RVD traveling prop show this was as good as you are going to get.

I liked this as you had RVD doing his usual prop bonanza but it actually pissed off Balls more and more as it was being used so he would take it out on RVD with harder and harder shots and moves. Balls also got to showcase his aerial moves as well which was fun and this led up to a nice stretch run where both men were going all out and credit to RVD for giving Balls so much on offense before the finish which wasn't good. I dug this match and I think it deserves to move forward.

Ballz Mahoney vs. RVD (7/3/99)

- Nice little exhibition early where Rob’s flippy kicks serve a purpose in attempting to chop Ballz down but Ballz catches the foot and hooks him in a single crab. Damn, shut the fuck up Fonzie! Fun match but really disjointed after the really fun opening. For example, Ballz goes from a top rope legdrop to a chinlock. Then he does a cool leg lariat over the ropes but RVD recovers and takes him out with a senton and Ballz recovers first. Not really digging the psychology of the match. I didn’t hate this but I thought the matches I watched earlier were much better.
