Posted September 1, 201015 yr comment_5455245 Chris Chetti v. Roadkill Man Chetti did take two incredible bumps to the guardrail here. This was not a bad match. I would like to have seen Roadkill work singles v. someone other than Chetti, but Chetti did a good job taking his offense and I thought his babyface fire ups were pretty solid for the most part. Chetti missed his calling as a ragdoll. Finish here was abrupt and sort of stupid, but at least it was executed well. This was a good enough match where I thought about nominating it, but ultimately I can't see it holding up on the back end of this process. Tracy Smothers v. Jerry Lynn Oh man watching the FBI work the crowd into a frenzy here is awesome. Rich trying to tag in and getting mandhandled by the ref was awesome. As a match this was slow developing but in a good way as Smothers seemed like he was working Lynn's workrate turf with a sort of tentativeness. Rich was absolutely tremendous stiffing Lynn with the spine of a chair to the face, jawing with the crowd, et and I have give Lynn credit for bumping pretty hard. Lynn winning with the Rich Italian Flag was a nice touch. I really don't think this is as good as the best Tracy solo matches from ECW and I don't even think it's as good a Tracy match with FBI bullshit as the Al Snow match from the Arena. On the other hand this is a really great performance from Rich as a second and it was a good match. I'm nominating primarily because of Rich. Blue Meanie v. Ulf Herman Meanie squashes Ulf but Billy Wiles is the timekeeper and rings the bell saying time has expired ont he match. This leads to... Super Nova/Blue Meanie v. Billy Wiles/Ulf Herman Just an excuse to get these guys a paycheck for the night. Not bad but fairly forgettable. Dawn Marie/Lance Storm v. Tammy Sytch/Chris Candido I usually hate shit like this as you have Lance selling for Tammy and Chris for Dawn Marie but I can't shit on a match where people worked this hard to make it entertaining. Sytch hitting a dive was fairly impressive actually and the fact that the woman took rail bumps was more than I would have expected. Not a good match but fun for a mixed tag. Masato Tanaka/Balls Mahoney v. D-Von Dudley/Bubba Dudley This felt really cartooning. I usually like Tanaka as far as Japanese spot workers who don't sell goes, but he was just goofy in this. Balls is a good tag worker in general, but he seemed sort of confused as to how to work this one at time. I actually thought D-Von was the best guy in this. Shane Douglas v. Sabu There was some brutal stuff in this and it had a big match feel but it really lacked flow to me. It's not that the big spots were too much or the selling was off - in fact I thought the selling was good - it's just that it seemed to be a really touch and go match. Finish sucked too. Rob Van Dam v. Bam Bam Bigelow WAY too much RVD prop shit here. Vaulting table spots seemed like the first half of this and I really didn't care for Bigelow's control segment at all. Actually Bigelow in general has been really disappointing so far. Not good at all. Tommy Dreamer v. Justin Credible Highlights of this were all run-in related. I did love the double claw from jack Victory and Rod Price, New Jack breaking a pumpkin on Victory's head, Lance Wright getting hit in the head with a guitar after flipping into the ring, and the One Man Gang running in was awesome. The Mach was nothing, but the run-in was fun.
