Posted September 1, 201015 yr comment_5455247 Chris Chetti/Tommy Rogers v. FBI This was pretty disappointing. The FBI's schtick was spot on as always and I thought Tracy was great reacting to the multiple botched spots from Chetti and Rogers. But this didn't have the time to develop the way it should have and the babyfaces really looked like they were having an off night. I did love Rich's bump and reactions to Rogers though. Mikey Whipwreck v. Lance Storm Mikey stepped in for Jerry Lynn here and was a house of fire early before taking a brutal bump on a rail vault into the crowd. This really should have led to Mikey in peril, but instead the match is worked as a workrate sprint which doesn't do either guy in favors. The ref bump was comically bad in this. Not a horrible match, but really poorly put together and uninteresting. Rod Price/One Man Gang v. Blue Meanie/Super Nova Gang was really great in this, dancing around on the apron pre-match, shrugging off Nova's ridiuclous bullshit and working big man parity spots with Meanie without looking weak or silly. Rest of the guys were pretty much just there and the interference in this was totally needless and stupid but Gang really did look good. Masato Tanaka/Balls Mahoney v. D-Von Dudley/Bubba Dudley I did not think the work here was particularly great, but the atmosphere made this one seem special and I really enjoyed Balls in this. His blade job was pretty nasty here, he bumped his huge and I liked all of his exchanges with D-Von. Bubba's heeling made the crowd brawling better than normal and I really loved the spot with the Dudz trying to Hulk UP from the double chairshots only to pass out, Bubba landing nuts first on D-Von. Nearfall section here seemed over the top, but both of you guys should watch this just to see the chairshot Gertner takes if nothing else. Danny Doring v. Chris Candido This was a lot of fun. Doring can be really awful at times, but he was a lot better as a heel and him running around with pride after executing an offensive move was pretty great. This was fairly well segmented and featured several cool spots especially Candido's running vertical suplex and the finish which was a wells set up Candido super bomb. If this was a bit longer it would be something I could see making the set. Spike Dudley v. Shane Douglas Douglas dropping Spike hard as hell on the top rope to counter an early acid drop attempt was pretty nasty and then he follows it up by throwing Spike with a slam onto a ladder. There is a run-in train on the Spike comeback that undercuts the momentum this had pretty badly. Not sure this had much of a chance anyhow but that shit gets really old after a while. Tommy Dreamer v. Rob Van Dam I will say this for this match - the stuff that was supposed to look brutal looked brutal. I could actually see someone liking this one a lot, but to me this lacked any real flow and I thought the structure was poor and actually made Tommy look unsympathetic.
