Posted September 2, 201015 yr comment_5455278 Spike Dudley/Chris Chetti v. FBI Spike and Guido always pair off well so it's no surprise that the opening segment was well worked, and Tracy did a really good job making Chetti's stuff look good as well. Chetti as FIP really is the best role for him, not because he is particularly good at it, but because he's less likely to fuck something up as he can just be a prop for Rich, Guido and Smothers to beat up on. This was really too abbreviated to nominate, but the finish with Tommy Rich and the chain was pretty awesome. Taz v. Pablo Marquez This was fun. Taz squashes Marquez with all of his staples but he also let Pablo get in a tope which Marquez celebrated like it was the greatest accomplishment of his life. Decent little match though nothing special. Al Snow v. Shane Douglas Big parts of this were worked in an almost "please don't stop" style albeit at a much slower pace than you would normally expect from that style. Douglas spiking himself on a rana was pretty scary, but by and large I thought that worked well and I thought other stuff like the vertical suplex and camel clutch looked really good and made sense as "target the back" moves to set up for the belly-to-belly. Match settled down some over time and I enjoyed Snow kicking out of one belly-to-belly and getting caught by a flash one later for the pin. Pretty good all things considered. Tommy Dreamer v. Rob Van Dam I liked Dreamer in this. The spot with him on the floor being lifted up by the fans after taking a chair kick to the face was really cool. A lot of this WWF v. ECW feud came off flat, but Dreamer was a good crusader for ECW here as it seemed that everything he was doing was being done to put out Van Dam and vice versa. Finish with Van Dam's flash burning him leading to a nasty spike DDT was really cool and I was surprised to see Dreamer win. Post-match Sabu comes out and they destroy Tommy and bury him in the WWF flag. Justin Credible v. Chris Candido This is Credible's debut and he was actually billed as PG-187 after throwing down his Aldo mask pre-match. Match is okay. They basically go with a "can Candido beat him?" style of match that seeks out to make Credible appear as an equal. Work is decent but nothing special. D-Von Dudley/Bubba Dudley v. Axl Rotten/Balls Mahoney This was structured really well, but it really should have been a massive brawl. Balls tried but the fans wanted to see a street fight not a Southern tag. Kronus and New Jack ended up running in when Big Dick interfered. Bobby Duncam Jr. v. Sabu Too short to mean anything. Whole thing was just to set up a massive angle with Sandman/Dreamer/Lance Wright/RVD/Taz/et. Spike Dudley v. Bam Bam Bigelow Spike squashed with ease by Bigelow. John Kronus/New Jack v. D-Von Dudley/Bubba Dudley Exactly what you would expect including a senseless torn ACL Perry Saturn run-in.
