Posted September 3, 201015 yr comment_5455303 Super Nova/Blue Meanie v. Axl Rotten/Balls Mahoney Go nowhere tag. Whole point was to give Sandman an excuse for a run-in. Little Guido v. Chris Chetti Not very good. They really flubbed the shit out of the finish. Some of the early exchanges were okay. Scott Taylor v. Taz (EXTRA) These guys really worked well together. Taylor was almost the perfect foil for Taz at this point, because he had some flashy offense, could bump well, new how to put together and time mini-comebacks and sold better than most guys with otherwise comparable skills. Taylor takes a really crazy bump to the floor in this, eats a sick Taz clothesline, and takes a really nice pair of Taz suplexes. Taz bumps well himself here and sold more for Taylor than he did for most guys. Lots of simple stuff executed well but this worked almost perfectly for what they were going for. Probably needed to be a bit longer, but I'd like to see this as an extra. Louie Spicolli v. Bobby Duncam Jr. Tommy Rich is in as Duncam's second and gives us some pre-match mic work, so this is a good start. Decent amateur exchange to star this that is broken with a Duncam lariat. Spicolli immediately comes back and it is the Duncam bump show for a few. This was starting to suck when Rich got involved with cheapshots on Spicolli. Man Spicolli really sort of sucked. Hated his peril segment. This was pretty blah all things considered. Mens Teoh/Taka Minchinoku/Dick Togo v. Great Sasuke/Gran Naniwa/Gran Hamada The flow during the early portion of this was not as good as the flow on the 2-14 match but this was still really awesome. Lots of stuff to love about this. For starters anytime Hamada and Togo paired off you knew it was going to be something awesome as they were both super intense and seemed to be hitting everything with extra snap and explosiveness. I also really loved Naniwa in this as I thought he was a good FIP and I loved his crabwalk and big dives in this. Speaking of dives the dive train in this was fucking incredible and insane and was staggered in such a way that everything got to shine. Sasuke's moonsault landed him in the crowd and then he later hit the space flying tiger drop. Hamada hit a fucking insane twisting DDT on the floor on Togo. Naniwa got pissed at Teoh trying to fuck up his big finish and hit a flip senton. Just tons of cool shit that served to build the finish in the ring as well since their were teases going on in ring during all of that. Another awesome match between these guys which should surprise no one. D-Von Dudley v. Sandman I liked this a good bit. Early portion is Sandman selling his ass off for D-Von but he is really great at it and builds the tension very well. When he makes his comeback D-Von is suitable in a similar respect. Loved some of the back and fourth stuff once the ladder was introduced and thought the finish with Sandman using the ladder to hand from the rafters and drop a massive legdrop onto D-Von was both clever and really cool looking stuff. I continue to be impressed with Sandman's selling and this was a garbage match that was well done despite it's minimalism. Spike Dudley v. Bubba Dudley This is worked pretty strangely as Bubba is on the ropes early, eating Spike's dives and taking some really big bumps into the guardrail before cutting Spike off with a brutal sideslam after Spike tried to knock him down with multiple clotheslines. Bubba's control segment is not bad, but it is really short. Spike ends up eating a top rope bubbacutter after a brief Spike comeback. Good match but not developed enough. Chris Candido/Brian Lee/Raven v. Pitbulls/Tommy Dreamer This was probably worked as smartly as it could be with the lengthy Dreamer in peril segment but it really did not seem like as big a deal as it should have. None of the big bumps looked any good either which didn't help. Rob Van Dam/Sabu v. Eliminators I have liked some of their encounters more than I would have expected, and this had it's moments, but overall this was heavy on big spots that didn't look terribly spectacular and lacked any meat that could make up for that.
