Posted September 8, 201015 yr comment_5455424 Axl Rotten v. Big Dick Dudley I was impressed by Dick's table bump. This was decent enough as a plunder heavy opener. Chris Chetti v. Justin Credible This was a good match. Credible bumped huge early and then Chetti ended up settling into a really solid FIP. Thought they did a good job building heat and teasing comebacks. Finish kind of sucked, but overall this was a well structured match. FBI v. Tajiri/Nova This is interesting as Guido immediately takes Tajiri down and goes after the arm. They end working an opening segment that is all mat exchanges with a few mild strike battles and it is a totally different tone from what you might expect. Smothers ends up tripping Tajiri off of a rope running spot and he and Guido end up eating a tope con hilo for their troubles. Smothers ends up coming in and they work over Tajiri which brings out fucking Nova. This ends up morphing into a tag match which just pisses me off. Tajiri wins with a brainbuster. God damn this was looking good and they fucked it up. Super Crazy v. Antifaz de Norte These guys come out hard out of the gate with bumps to the floor and a cool Norte twisting plancha. Crazy hits a huge Asai to the floor. There are parts of this where these guys are just doing twisting leap after twisting leap, rana after rana, dive after dive, et. without pausing at all. This is a true spotfest in every sense of the term. Having said that, some of these spots are really loose and don't look all that great. Fun but not anywhere near the best of this sort I've seen out of ECW. Steve Corino v. Chris Candido Corino is usually presented really weakly, but here he works as Candido's equal. Lots of back and fourth exchanges in this. Some solid looking punches in this. Candido hit the diving headbutt and a top rope butterfly suplex for the finish. There was some loose stuff here and I didn't care for the pacing, but overall this was pretty decent. Skull Von Krush v. Taz Krush spits on Taz pre-match. Taz manhandles him on the mat and demands Krush fights him and then Krush takes over the match. Totally bizarre as Krush beat the shit out of Taz for five minutes or so. Taz eventually hulks up, but I have no clue how Krush ended up getting so much of this match. Sabu v. One Man Gang This is easily the worst of their matches. Match is sort of scatter brained and lacks the spiking of the previous bouts. There is also a pretty embarrassing table spot here. Not good. Spike Dudley/John Kronus v. D-Von Dudley/Bubba Dudley There were parts of this I loved, namely the Spike brawl with Bubba in the crowd. Really loved the fight by the balcony as it built to the big dive well and the piledriver on the floor really was pretty insane. D-Von look good in this as well. This was sort of a fringe nomination for me until the finish which was badly botched with Kronus appearing to forget what the fuck was going on after taking the initial 3D. Balls Mahoney v. Rob Van Dam Kind of a shitty version of their standard match. Fonzy was annoying as fuck on commentary.
