Simon Diamond v. Kid Kash

Okay. Kash hit his stuff alright and Simon was inoffensive.

HC Lee/Prodigy v. The Dupps

Babyfaces showed a lot of fire in this, like they were fighting for their lives and their jobs. As a whole this match was sort of middling, but the effort was nice.

Mikey Whipwreck v. Spike Dudley

I really liked the opening exchanges with Spike working roll ups, Mikey being an asshole, and some pretty nice body shots. Mikey did a weird windmill spot where he dropped Spike face first on the corner that looked cool but lacked impact and was actually probably a well covered up botch. Mikey ties Spike up like a pretzel and then drops him face first on the guardrail out of a wheelbarrow position. Mikey ends up taking a ridiculous flat back dive into the guardrail and then eating a top rope chair dive from Spike. Man this is like a replay of the Sabu match as these guys are really dishing it out. Spike takes Mikey onto the TNA set, throws him down the stairs and dives off onto him. Spike takes maybe the only good looking floatover stunner I've ever seen for a really good nearfall. Finish is a misdirection spot with Mitchell leading to a flash Acid Drop for three. I liked this a lot.

Nova/Chris Chetti v. Erik Watts/C.W. Anderson

Boy Chetti sucked in this, whiffing on kicks and just looking like the biggest piece of shit alive. C.W. could of killed himself trying for nothing or phoned it in and I can't say I blame him for phoning it in.

Mike Awesome v. Little Guido

Guido tries to run away from Awesome so Awesome drops him on his face on the guardrail and beats the shit out of him until Big Sal intervenes. Guido's control segment doesn't last as Awesome sits back on a crucifix attempt. Table spot tease is pretty good and delivery better. Decent match for what it was.

Da Baldies v. Masato Tanaka/Balls Mahoney

Pretty quick match with the babyfaces running after New Jack did something behind the refs back which is actually pretty funny if you think about it.

Danny Doring/Roadkill v. Impact Players

The bastards missed the Roadkill table bump. Oh well. This was pretty much a by the numbers sort of match for these two teams.

Tajiri v. Super Crazy (Japanese Death Match)

YES. YES. YES. This is a fucking war. Crazy blindsides Tajiri, but Tajiri catches him on a rope rebound and kicks his legs out from under him. Crazy escapes from the floor selling the shit out of his wounded leg and Tajiri targets it. Crazy tries to fight back but gets back body dropped into the crowd onto about ten fans which is just insane. Then there is an awesome spot as Crazy wades through the people angrily to get at Tajiri and Tajiri just kicks him dead in the face, not once, but twice despite the fact that Crazy is amidst fans on all sides of him and there is no security clearing a clean path for this shit. Back in the ring Tajiri sets up a seated chair and kicks it into Crazy's head, then "busts him open" with a double chair baseball slide into the tree of woe. After a tarantula Tajiri walks him around the ring and then leans him on the rope and fucking bites his open wound and spits the blood into the crowd. Someone screams at him so he throws a fucking chair at them at ringside. This gives Crazy a chance to make his comeback off of the next Tajiri attempt at offense. Crazy ends up setting him up on a table and hitting a massive legdrop through the table on the floor. Tajiri blades and Crazy ends up unloading with his own pretty well done kicks and bites Tajiri's cut and then gets a fucking shit load of chairs from the crowd and throws them into the ring in a huge pile. God damn is this match good. Tajir comes back with a rewind elbow off the ropes and a mist shot and then drags a table into the ring. Crazy goes to the floor but Tajiri stands on the table and kicks him in the face. They tease a table spot but Crazy avoids it and ends up setting Tajiri on the table for a moonsault and a really good nearfall (though Tajiri's shoulders weren't technically on the mat). Crazy ends up getting another table and goes for a powerbomb but Tajiri counters with a DDT on the pile of chairs. Tajiri buries him in a pile of chairs and puts the table over the top of him and double stomps through it onto Crazy for the finish. This had some very brief moments of awkwardness and Crazy visibly clutching some of the chairs took away from the full effect of the otherwise awesome finish, but make no mistake - this was a great match. It was paced very well, had strong selling for a match of this type, was structured exceptionally well, double blade job, good use of props, stiff as shit, excellent highspots, et. I would have no problem with someone calling this the best match in ECW history.

Steve Corino/Jack Victory v. Tommy Dreamer/Dusty Rhodes

Another war. To be honest this match is going to suffer some from having to follow the God on Earth that was the last match. Still this was really good stuff. Tommy just immediately taking Corino and tossing him into the crowd to start the wild brawling was awesome. Corino was a great pinball for Dreamer who is usually working that role himself. When they came back to ringside the Dream was chopping people and Victory was bloody as fuck so it sucks that we missed that end entirely but you get the feeling Corino v. Dreamer was the stronger pairing. Dreamer plays a really great FIP in this and Dusty is awesome working the apron, trying to get in to save Tommy, et. The prop use is limited here, but the ladder they use is actually sort of a momentum swinging device which is rare with props in ECW matches. In other words they got more out of it than they normally do. Dusty hot tag was quick work of the heels but I enjoyed it and the double bionic elbow finish. Not comparable to the last match really, but a really high note to end Phase Two of this project.
