Posted September 11, 201015 yr comment_5455524 PWF Tag Titles: Ted DiBiase & Stan "The Lariat" Hansen © vs. Shinichi Nakano & Yoshiaki Yatsu (7/17/87) Nakano & Yatsu have been very fun in the past so let's see how it goes here. Nakano is tanned here and he looks like mini Choshu which is funny. Nakano is fun here taking a beating playing the spunky role. The natives would work over DiBiase's left leg relentlessly with Hansen being great at trying to break it up as at one point he threw DiBiase to the floor but Yatsu would take advantage of that by wrapping his leg around the ringpost. Yatsu would go for the Prison Lock a couple of times with DiBiase who was awesome throughout this control section selling pain before finally getting it on until Hansen came in and just fucking bullrushed him then threw him to the floor so DiBiase could tag him. The match then turned into a 4-way on the floor but Hansen would miss a running knee and hit all ringpost so now you have both gaijin selling their legs. Yatsu would then go for the Prison Lock on Hansen before DiBiase bullrushed him with a lariat. Yatsu would then tag in Nakano who quickly ate a hard fuckin lariat for the win. The finish came out of complete nowhere but this was a very fun match with some great selling by the gaijin and the natives being really solid. This is a nomination.
September 11, 201015 yr comment_5455525 I'll check it out again since my review was lacking in detail. Stan Hansen & Ted Dibiase vs. Yoshiaki Yatsu & Shinichi Nakano (PWF Tag Title, 7/17/87) - It is hard to get excited about this match after the last tag. Hansen wins with a sweet Lariat.
September 19, 201015 yr comment_5455978 I really enjoyed this as well. I expected the Hansen whupping of Nakano that opened the match, but I didn't expect the native team to remain so competitive by going after Dibiase and Hansen's legs. It was the perfect approach to a seeming mismatch, because it played to Yatsu's submission, which was really the only way he and Nakano could hope to win. And Dibiase turned in an excellent selling performance. The chaos on the outside also worked as a way to turn up the drama, with Hansen getting reckless after taking the hot tag and putting his team right back in trouble. Then that finishing lariat out of nowhere was a thing of beauty. I agree with the solid nomination.
October 21, 201014 yr comment_5457470 Ted Dibiase & Stan Hansen vs. Shinichi Nakano & Yoshiaki Yatsu, 7/17/87 (AJ Classics 153) Primary story early on has the Americans beating up on Nakano early on. When Yatsu and Dibiase match up, Dibiase plays American in peril and Hansen is forced to save. The natives work on Dibiase’s legs and Hansen is frustrated and helpless. Outside Hansen hurts his knee after a charge to the corner and sells it before putting the match away with a lariat. Well, I guess I paid attention more to the match than I did the first time but I still don’t know if it was unique enough or exciting enough to be a lock for the set. The best I can give I is a low-end nomination.
