Posted September 23, 201015 yr comment_5456158 Bobby Blaze v. Chris Candido What a strange little match. Lots of early stalling and antics from Candido. The big spots in this are really wild looking. Blaze hits a crazy dive onto the floor. Candido hits a really reckless looking inside-out diving headbutt thing that I can't even fully explain. They work lots of teaser spots down the stretch, some of them look really cool and some of them just look bizarre. I did like Blaze's blind side victory roll as I've never seen that done before, and his dropkick spot and Northern Lights were both really cool nearfalls that were somewhat unexpected to me. Blaze ends up blocking a top rope move from Candido by doing a bizarre flipkick using the ropes for leverage. He goes for a suplerplex but gets wiped out with a huge super bomb. Candido ragdolls him and fucks around with him for a few minutes and of course gets rolled up as a result. I'm going to pass this through on the uniqueness of the spots though this is more a "interesting" match than a really great one. Prince Kharis v. Tim Horner Kharis humps Horner ala the Yetti which was strange. Horner gets in a little bit of decent offense. "The Bullet" v. Kevin Sullivan (First Blood) Sullivan throws powder in Armstrong's eyes right at the gate. They go straight to the floor and just start beating the shit out of each other with props. Armstrong is super charismatic and Sullivan is always fun in that setting so this was fun while it lasted. The finish was kind of lame and this was super short, but overall this was enjoyable. Rock N Roll Express v. The Moondogs (Street Fight) I am not sure if this was supposed to be as street fight or if these guys just decided to say fuck it and beat the hell out of each other, but I absolutely loved it one way or the other. The Moondogs are both fat, old and out of shape and seemingly can't do much, but they end up taking some really fun belly flop bumps onto a table that ends up propped up on the ropes in the ring. Robert takes a crazy bump on the railing on the floor. They are just running around hitting each other with everything they can find while Mark Curtis frantically scrambles around trying not to get killed. This is like the Fantastics/Bodies backstage brawl, except in a ring in front of a live audience. Post-match is even better as they just keep fighting and flinging shit at each other while the ring announcer keeps repeating "this is a non-sanctioned match and it is over!" Some of the shots weren't totally clean, but for totally out of control brawls this was a whole lot of fun. Dirty White Boy v. Brian Lee Lots of stalling with Lee early but this quickly develops into a really fun match. Lee hits a couple of really sweet powerslams off the ropes once he takes over. Anthony's punching flurries are so intense looking and I really loved his diving clothesline. Curtis ends up takinga sick bump off a missed Lee shoulder tackle and then the girls get into it in the ring and on the floor. No finish to this and really short, but fun while it lasted. Bruise Brothers v. The Heavenly Bodies (Street Fight) Jesus Christ, another wild ass brawl. Del Ray does his 360 clothesline bump less than a minute into this. That sets the tone as the camera is front and center on Del Ray from then on out. They brawl all around the arena, with guys taking big bumps into the hockey boards and into stacks of chairs. Del Ray's thrust kick looks good here, he bladed pretty big and I thought his selling really carried this as he looked like a guy that was going through a real battle for his life. At one point he is whipping one of the Harris Boys in the face with some shit and then he's in the crowd punching people in the face like two seconds later. Cornette is fun in this getting his ass kicked and throwing blindside shots with the racket and an ironing board. Finish with the Bruise Brothers winning via knockout after hitting the banned piledriver was pretty cool.
June 20, 201114 yr comment_5474573 Tar & Feather Match: Bobby Blaze vs. Chris Candido (11/26/93) Candido is over the top at the start with his wacky selling and stalling and I have no problem with that as the crowd is on his ass. Damn Candido almost kills Blaze with a suplex on the top rope as Blaze almost fell right on his head. Blaze is fun here as well hitting some big spots including a big plancha off the top rope to the floor. Candido then decides to go spot for spot with Blaze by jumping off the middle rope and hitting a diving headbutt to Blaze who was on the apron with both crashing to the floor in a wild spot. Candido was fun here on offense while whining to Mark Curtis about slow counting him on the nearfalls. Blaze's hope spots was unorthodox to say the least including a spot where he threw Candido into the corner face first then hit a quick German Suplex then a Northern Lights Suplex hold out of nowhere for a nearfall. Blaze then hit a rolling koppou kick on Candido who was on the top rope before Candido NUKED him with a superbomb which looked awesome. Candido kept up the pressure before a lifeless Blaze caught Candido with a schoolboy to get the win. Candido jacked the syrup and put it on Blaze but Blaze would recover and threw the feathers out of the pillow on Candido. This was a fun match which like I said had some unorthodox stuff going on here and I think it should move forward. Prince Kharis vs. "White Lightning" Tim Horner (11/26/93) Kharis is a big mummy and isn't good. First Blood Match: The Bullet vs. Kevin Sullivan (11/26/93) Fans love Bullet and Sullivan throws powder in his eyes as soon as he gets in the ring to get this going. Sullivan pounds on Bullet but it doesn't last long as Bullet gets the weapons that Sullivan had and beats his ass with them. Killer Kyle would run into the ring to help Sullivan but Bullet beats his ass until he accidentally hits Sullivan with the blackjack causing him to juice. This was very short but fun. Sullivan & Kyle then brawled afterwards which was fun as well. The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) vs. The Moondogs (Spike & Spot) (11/26/93) This is just nothing but a fucking brawl with weapons being used and everyone just beats each others asses here. Total insanity and a slam dunk nomination. SMW Heavyweight Title: "Primetime" Brian Lee © vs. "Dirty White Boy" Tony Anthony (11/26/93) DWB is now a babyface and has the Dirty White Girl to counter Tammy. Lee hemmed and hawwed early on but DWB would catch him and beat him inside and outside the ring. Lee would cheapshot DWB coming back from the floor and then went on offense using roughhouse tactics along with some sweet powerslams. DWB's comeback was fun as he was throwing some great punches along with a sweet diving clothesline off the middle rope for a nearfall. Curtis would take a big bump off a missed Primetime running shoulderblock so this brought in Tammy to hit DWB with her purse and then DWG would come in to jump on her. DWB would then use Tammy's purse to assault Lee who took some wild bumps before rolling out of the ring. The match was ruled a DQ because DWG broke up a Lee pinfall. Good stuff but not a nomination although a better finish would've helped. Street Fight: The Bruise Brothers (Don & Ron Harris) vs. The Heavenly Bodies ("Gigolo" Jimmy del Ray & Dr. Tom Prichard) (11/26/93) The fans are hot for the Bruisers as babyfaces and man do they kick the shit out of the Bodies here early on especially Gigolo who is really great at taking a beating and selling it. This goes all over the building and is as wild if not wilder than the RnR/Moondogs brawl. Bodies would eventually go on offense especially Gigolo who pounds on one of the Bruisers with a stop sign among other things but the Bruisers wouldn't go down without a fight either and this became a war of atrition. Corny gets involved at one point hitting one of the Bruisers with a racket so he would go after Corny only to be met by a tope suicida by Gigolo out of nowhere. Gigolo though would pay for that eating a piledriver from the other Bruiser and couldn't answer the 10 count to end the match. The Moondogs would jump the Bruisers after the match and they heels beat the shit out of them. Another insane brawl and another slam dunk nomination.
