Posted September 23, 201015 yr comment_5456177 I was interested to watch Tenryu work a long grappling section with a luchador and actually, it was damn fun. The crowd popped big when he maneuvered Mil into a bow-and-arrow. Actually, they made all of their mat counters look really hardfought. The stretch run got pretty wild with both guys hitting dives to the floor, and I liked the fight over the pin after Mil hit his cross body. This turned out to be a hell of a match. Nomination. October 17, 201014 yr comment_5457310 Mil Mascaras vs. Genichiro Tenryu, 2/4/82 (G+ 42) - I like the idea of Mil Mascaras on the mat. No complaints here as I have been more pleased with Mil during the project than you guys. I liked the big dive from Mascaras to the outside and the ending came out of nowhere. I think I may have liked other Mascaras matches better, I think we can leave this one off. It wasn’t like Ole-Tenryu where Ole puts on the performance of a career and Tenryu has tons of better matches.
November 21, 201014 yr comment_5458467 IWA World Heavyweight Title: Mil Mascaras © vs. Genichiro Tenryu (2/4/82) This is one of Tenryu's early big singles matches and he is wearing a purple tight/burgundy kneepad combo here which is great. There is some really good mat wrestling here by both men with Tenryu hanging tough with Mil on the mat which says something. Tenryu would hit a crisp enzuigiri to setup the manjigatame but Mil got to the ropes to save himself. Tenryu then went off on Mil eventually sending him to the floor where he hit him with a tope suicida which was cool. Mil would answer back with a reverse plancha off the ropes for a nearfall then Tenryu would miss a running shoulderblock into the corner hitting all ringpost allowing Mil to come off the top with a plancha to the floor. The crowd is hot for Tenryu here before Mil catches him with the flying cross chop then a cross body block off the top rope but Tenryu wouldn't go down easily trying to reverse the pinfall but Mil would keep him down to win. I dug this match a lot as it was very fun seeing early Tenryu work the mat with Mil and the stretch run was good as well. This moves forward.
