Mil Mascaras/Dos Caras vs. Genchiro Tenryu/Jumbo Tsuruta (7/21/82) - They started with Caras and Mascaras leading Jumbo and Tenryu through a nifty, lucha-tinted mat section. I liked the way the Japanese, confronted with superior technicians, took control of the match with brawling and power moves. Then we got wild action at the end with Caras hitting two beautiful dives to the floor on Tenryu to set up a countout. The finish felt abrupt but this was entertaining and different enough that I'll throw it out for consideration. 3. Mil Mascaras vs. Jumbo Tsuruta (6 mins of highlights, 8/25/77) 4. Genchiro Tenryu vs. Umanoseke Ueda (7/22/82) - Tenryu busted Ueda open with a pre-bell attack and I liked watching him dominate a wrestler I've come to despise. Then, Singh came to ringside and busted Tenryu open with his sword. I wouldn't have minded watching them continue with both guys covered in blood. But of course, Singh's actions led to a DQ. Fuck the booking from this era. Just fuck it. 5. Atsushi Onita vs. Chavo Guerrero (7/30/82) - Onita continued to do nothing for me, although he at least hit his one wild tope. Chavo was Chavo, so the match didn't suck. But it felt rather uncompetitive for a title showdown. 6. Mil Mascaras vs. Jumbo Tsuruta (7/30/82) - Already reviewed. 7. Giant Baba vs. Tiger Jeet Singh (7/30/82) - Already reviewed. 8. Mil Mascaras/Dos Caras vs. Great Kojika/? (8/1/82) - This came off as an exhibition of what the Mexicans could do more than a competitive match.
