Posted September 30, 201015 yr comment_5456454 As in their 1980 singles match, Steamboat seemed desperate to tear a piece out of Sheik's ass. It was nice to see that kind of fire from him after a lot of bland performances in All Japan. I was surprised that Snuka pinned Jumbo so cleanly with his dive off the top for the first fall. But Jumbo got his receipt with a beautiful cross body off the top for the second fall. The third ended in a clusterfuck with guys using a rope to hang each other and Sheik bleeding after Jumbo and Steamboat gored him with his own foreign object. There were some lackluster stretches in this, but given the interesting combo of guys and the wild fight at the end, you guys should take a look. Anybody have an idea where to find the date?? October 19, 201014 yr comment_5457411 Jumbo Tsuruta/Ricky Steamboat vs. The Sheik/Jimmy Snuka, Need date?? (Japan TV 80s) - I like Steamboat against both of these guys so I am excite for this match. Thankfully, the Sheik stays on the outside early on and Snuka takes and receives the punishment early on. Snuka is a good bumper and nasty foreigner so Jumbo Steamer working on the arm is all good. Once the heels gain control, I like the way they find different ways to choke Steamboat but they don’t stay in control very long. When Jumbo comes in, Snuka makes short work of him and ends the 1st fall with the Superfly Splash. By itself, the first fall would not be a nomination. I hope the next two tell a story that builds instead of having random endings. - 2nd fall, heels maintain control on Jumbo early on and he plays native in peril. I am really diggin the idea of Sheik only coming in for 15 seconds at a time to choke mofos. Not the most exciting way to pass time with Snuka and Sheik trading choke holds but it doesn’t last long. I don’t know why they allowed the fall to continue but Sheik comes in the ring utilizing a freaking broom. WTF? I feel bad for Snuka. He ends up wrestling almost the entire match. Anyway, he gets a receipt when Jumbo pins him with a flying body press from the top. Another fall that didn’t have much going for it individually. So far, not feeling this match. - 3rd fall, I should mention, before the fall starts (like the 2nd fall), Steamer and Sheik brawl before the legal men can get back to work (i.e. Jumbo and Snuka). However, the Sheik-Steamer parts are the most entertaining part of the match. In the end, the ref ends up getting choked out and the whole match is a wash. Well, we get a Snuka-Steamboat match and Sheik-Steamer will end up on the set so I see no reason to add this uneven match.

The 2nd fall took on a wilder tone with the heels being more violent especially Sheik who brought a fucking broom to the ring and used it freely with Joe Higuchi not really making him stop. The Steamer/Snuka battle on the top rope was fun which led to Jumbo getting a cross body block off the top rope on Snuka to even the falls. The 3rd fall started with more brawling using the Sheik's stick causing him to juice then a rope would come into play and Joe Higuchi would get choked out for the DQ. This had some fun moments but this isn't worthy of a nomination.
