Posted October 2, 201014 yr comment_5456547 First fall showcased Chavo vs. Dos Caras and Steamboat vs. Mascaras with the first pairing coming off quicker and slicker and the second conveying more struggle. Steamboat and Chavo hit some seamless double teams to set up the first fall on Dos. The second fall unfolded in reverse with Steamboat and Mascaras working gritty hold exchanges for most of it and Chavo and Dos Caras topping it off with a fun exchange of highspots. Caras hit a sweet tope on Chavo and slid back in to beat the count for the second fall. The last fall featured more fun stuff from both pairings, climaxing with a series of miscommunication spots that left Caras in position to beat Chavo with a cross body off the top. Again, the crowd was dead, but I was really pleased they gave these guys so much time on TV to do something outside the AJPW norm. Another nomination. AJ TV '82 or '83
October 19, 201014 yr comment_5457409 Ricky Steamboat/Chavo Guerrero vs. Mil Mascaras/Dos Caras (2/3 falls), 8/81?? (TV 82 or 83) - Man, 3 of these guys are my favorites. Caras is ok but I enjoyed his first round with Steamboat including Steamboat’s deadlift with Caras piggybacking. Chavo takes control with a headlock until Caras reverses with a nice head scissors sequence. 1st fall with Caras is just pretty work. Chavo and Mascaras pick up with the fancy Mexican maneuvering. Steamer and Mil work like they were continuing the 3rd fall of the last match and have an awesome back and forth counterriffic sequence. Nice ending as Chavo hits a senton off the top and pins Caras with a German Suplex. - 2nd fall, Steamboat and Mascaras still continue to play off the previous match and I am loving it. If it turns out this match was 1st, then they carry the themes her into that match. Either way, good stuff. Chavo almost gave a Backlundesque leap outside to set up a Caras dive. The dive was enough to get Chavo counted out. Another strong fall. - 3rd fall, Chavo and Caras battle move for move with neither man taking advantage. It looks like Caras is in trouble until he tags Mascaras who gets the better of Steamboat. Oh shit, Mascaras give Steamer a receipt working out of a bearhug. Super hot ending with Mascaras getting the pin on Chavo with a bodypress. Man, that stretch run was hot and this is a strong nomination.
November 5, 201014 yr comment_5457992 Dos Caras & Mil Mascaras vs. Chavo Guerrero & Ricky Steamboat (9/6/81) Again another 3 fall classic wrestling match with everyone looking great especially Mil & Steamer. This is an easy nomination.
