Posted October 17, 201014 yr comment_5457346 This stood out from the usual Brody/Hansen match for several reasons. Tenryu showed a lot of fire in standing up to the bullies. Hansen and Brody did some really focused work on Jumbo's arm. The natives did a great job working on a nasty cut over Brody's eye. And they came up with a nifty twist on the usual brawl to the countout, with Brody ducking back into the ring and hitting a nasty dropkick that drove Tenryu off the apron, into the guardrail. It wasn't a truly epic match, but you guys should check this one out. All Japan TV April 21st & April 28th, 1984
October 19, 201014 yr comment_5457408 Stan Hansen & Bruiser Brody vs. Jumbo Tsuruta & Genichiro Tenryu, AJ TV 4/28/84 - The work should be good to advance because the outcome really isn’t in doubt. Wow, early on, Brody allows Tenryu and Jumbo get the better of him for a short spell. At this point of time, I think I could use some blood. If Hansen and Brody are going to kick the shit out of these guys, some blood would be good. Having said that, I really like the work on the shoulder and arm of Jumbo. Not used to seeing this much focus from Brody while I do see it from Hansen often. Eventually, Brody gives me the blood and this has a really hit ending with all four guys throwing bombs. They end up brawling outside and we get a countout ending. I am impressed since I thought it was a given that Tenryu was taking the fall and Brody/Hansen treated both natives as their equals. Refreshing. Nomination.
November 6, 201014 yr comment_5458024 Bruiser Brody & Stan "The Lariat" Hansen vs. Genichiro Tenryu & Jumbo Tsuruta (4/24/84) Hansen's poncho here is fantastic and the Osaka crowd is hot for this one. Wow, Brody actually sells for Tenryu here and gives him some offense which floors me and this is great. The action here would then go to working holds such as the gaijin working over Jumbo's left arm then Tenryu comes in fired up and takes it to the gaijin but they would soon overpower him before Jumbo would come back in and they busted up Brody's right eye then work the cut relentlessly. Business really picked up here as the gaijin were in some big trouble which was very rare for them but Brody would fight back with a big boot to Tenryu and almost finished him off but Jumbo pulled Tenryu to the floor where the action would continue until the countout finish. This was really fun as it showed the gaijin in a highly competitive match having to survive by winning via countout. This moves forward easily.
