UWA Toreo de Cuatro Caminos:

Los Infernales (El Satanico/MS1/Pirata Morgan) vs. Dos Caras/El Canek/VooDoo Malumba

Really fun Infernales performance, as they were awesome pinballing off of Malumba, and great violence when they got an advantage. Technicos really brought nothing to the table. Malumba (aka Big Red Reese) was pretty terrible, as he couldn't even execute basic fat dude offense.

Babe Face/Eric Embry/Dan Green vs. Fishman/Abdullah Tamba/El Faraon

Tamba has some nice flying headbutts and Embry had some fun shtick, but this was mostly long and dull.

EMLL 54th Anniversary '87:

Chavo, Mando & Hector Guerrero vs. Gran Markus/Gran Markus Jr./Sangre Chicana 9/18/87

I could see this going on if we got a third fall, but it was only two, and never built to a big crescendo. Mando was such a weird wrestler and he was the star with all of his goofy shit, hopefully he will show up more.

Mogur vs. As Charro-Mascara Contra Mascara 9/18/87

Awesome As Charro performance, and a terrible Mogur performance. Charro hits three insane dives (including a rider kick and and tope to the back of Mogur), bleeds a ton and throws cool suplexes. Mogur does some irish whips and open handed chops. As Charro was good enough that this should go on a set for sure, but man I wish he hadn't been stuck with such a load.

Los Infernales (El Satanico/MS1/Pirata Morgan) vs. Dos Caras/El Canek/VooDoo Malumba

There were moments where this threatened to creep into FUN territory. The second fall, taken on it's own, was kinda entertaining, with a good Canek/Satanico exchange, a solid Pirata/Dos exchange, and MS-1 bumping big for Mulumba. But this one was never gonna go far, because Voodoo Mulumba is one of the shittiest wrestlers I have ever seen in my life. Mulumba, for those who don't know, is the infamous Big Red Reese, the guy they brought into Memphis to feud with Bill Dundee after he beat Lawler in the '85 loser leaves town match, and he absolutely bombed on top. Here, he's in with five other guys, all of whom I like to some degree or another, so the suck is diluted a little. But he's still the center of the match, and that's not good, because he is to fat guy wrestlers what Giant Gonzalez was to tall guy wrestlers. He is the fat guy wrestler who can't even be called upon to do basic fat guy wrestling stuff effectively. He almost falls over doing the "sit-down splash out of a sunset flip attempt" spot. His teammates Irish whip MS-1 into him so that he'll get knocked down by Mulumba's girth...and it's Mulumba who's driven back. The only other worthwhile thing about the match - which is also Pirata's one notable contribution to it - is the post-match, where the defeated Infernales dare Mulumba to come back and face them again, including Pirata climbing on MS-1's shoulders to overcome his size advantage. Otherwise, this is the first actively terrible match I've watched for this thing.

Babe Face/Eric Embry/Dan Green vs. Fishman/Abdullah Tamba/El Faraon

Dan Green isn't as terrible as Mulumba, but he sure was not good.

Chavo, Mando & Hector Guerrero vs. Gran Markus/Gran Markus Jr./Sangre Chicana 9/18/87

I don't know what match Phil was watching, but this one had three falls. The inter-fall stuff from the EMLL show was editied out on this disc, so maybe he didn't notice. Anyway, this match was pretty awesome, although admittedly, most of the best stuff was concentrated in the first fall. Great early exchanges between Chavo and Markus Jr., with Chavo looking as on-point as ever, and Markus looking far more spry than I'm used to for him. Mando's work was crazy and tricked-out as mentioned. Before this, they had the old EMLL opening with all those old match clips, and someone did a front flip out of test of strength into a headscissors, and I'm like "man, somebody needs to be doing that today". And lo and behold, Mando does exactly that. Awesome. Hector had some shades of future Eddy, which always makes me happy. Chicana was good, though he'll have far, far better showings than this on the set. Markus the Elder didn't look that great, but nothing matchbreaking. He had to wait around waaaaay too long for a Chavo moonsault at one point. Otherwise, I dug this, and it feels like a solid nomination.

Mogur vs. As Charro-Mascara Contra Mascara 9/18/87

I didn't even hate Mogur that much in this match. I'd struggle to call him good, and...OK, he's actually pretty bad here. But for the most part, he just feels like a warm body, and I did think he showed up a little at the end of the third fall. Threw a nice dropkick, and I liked his dive. Still, I have to admit that I probably wouldn't be letting his performance slide like I am if As Charro's performance wasn't as great as it was. This is a total one-man show for him, and normally, that's the kind of thing that I wouldn't push for, but I actually think this should be an easy inclusion on the set. He's that good.

Canek/Dos Caras/Voodoo Mulumba (Big Red Reese) vs. Los Infernales (MS-1/Pirata Morgan/El Satanico) (10/7/84)

The rudos were pretty damn great here and man was it a trip watching fucking Big Red working El Toreo. The match itself as a whole wasn't very good as Voodoo sucked and his partners weren't that motivated here.

Abdullah Tamba/El Faraon/Fishman vs. Babe Face & The Fabulous Blondes (Eric Embry & Dan Greer) (10/7/84)

Wow was Embry stuck with some shit here.

La Dinastia Guerrero (Chavo/Hector/Mando) vs. Gran Markus/Gran Markus Jr./Sangre Chicana (9/18/87)

This is from the 54th Anniversario show and cool seeing this version of the Guerreros teaming up here. Mando although looking like the Mexican Mike Graham was really fun here doing all of his wacky shit while Chavo & Hector were awesome also. Markus Jr. was still in shape here and was moving around really well while his father though wasn't so active and relied on his smarts to get by. Chicana was the glue here that held everything together. The action here was fast paced with everyone bumping around but Phil was right here as we only got 2 falls but the Guerreros won both falls so this was a complete match. The ending was flat but still I'll push this forward as a low-end nomination.

Mascara contra Mascara: Mogur vs. As Charro (9/18/87)

As Charro knew what this match was about and he went all out here putting on one helluva show by flying and bumping around while taking some big spots and juicing which was a must here. Mogur wasn't so hot here but he did a decent job of being a base for Charro. Total showcase match here for the guy losing his mask which made sense since he was losing it so he should've went balls out. This moves forward as a fairly easy pick to me thanks to Charro.
