Posted October 26, 201014 yr comment_5457686 Robert Gibson v. Headbanger Mosh This was a lot more fun than it had any right being. Mosh was really great working schticky exchanges with Gibson, and Gibson shit talking over the house mic not once but twice was laugh out loud amusing. Really loved the spot with Mosh lifting up Curtis to demonstrate how Gibson was cheating and then Gibson picking up Curtis to show how he wasn't. Gibson's bump off of Thrasher's interference was surprisingly quick for a guy his age. Mosh hits a dive but the impact is missed by the camera angle. Mosh's offense really didn't impress and though Thrasher took an insane bump off the finish there is not enough here to go to bat for it. Tommy Rich v. Boo Bradley Pre-match mic work from Rich. Boo brings in a chair to sit down in and wait on Rich and then atomic drops Rich in it when he finally comes in the ring. This is a real battle of schitck here. You've got Boo patting down Mark Curtis checking for weapons, Rich playing hide the foreign object, Boo running to the back to get stuffed animals as reinforcement, random mid-match mic work, Rich stalling like crazy and doing "point to his head" than get punched spots, Boo and Rich working the criss cross spot with the face bailing and the heel getting winded and passing out, et. This is followed up by Boo spitting water, a Rich/Boo pose down, Boo knocking out Rich with a headcrank on a headlock, and other assorted shit. Bradley ends up going FIP after missing a massive legdrop. Boo ends up coming back with a bizarre stretching submission hold. Boo's punches look really good on his comeback. Rich goes to the tights and knocks out Boo with a foreign object for the finish. This was really fun for what it was. Tracy Smothers v. Al Snow Snow is stalling and jawing with the crowd so Smothers gets on the mic and starts an Al Snow sucks chant. Snow ends up responding with a rambling promo of his own. Smothers wins the opening exchange they play ring around the rosey and Snow ends up bumping out to the floor again. Smothers was actually really fun to watch isolating the arm and working nifty little chain wrestling exchanges in the process. They end up working an awesome criss cross exchange with Snow working multiple leapfrogs and then hitting a nasty back elbow that Smothers spills to the floor for. Snow follows it up with a bombs away plancha which was a good spot. Snow follows this up with a series of running baseballs slides on the floor. This is going really good, but Snow ends up blowing a spot off the ropes an then they do a skin the cat spot with Smothers that really doesn't make any sense and serves no purpose. Snow hits a huge superplex for a nearfall. Snow goes for another superplex but Smothers blocks hit and hits a dropkick. Sadly they botch another spot which kind of kills the momentum of this. Snow end sup hitting his wheelbarrow suplex, but a second gets countered. They get really sloppy toward the finish. This was half of a good match at least. Brad Armstrong v. Buddy Landell Finish only shown. Rich and landell argue on the mic post match. Headbangers v. Unabomb/Al Snow v. The Heavenly Bodies v. The Thugz The stretch run of this was really good, but man I hate this gimmick. This was an elimination four corners match but for some reason you could fight your own partner and it was expected that you would win you were in the ring together which of course resulted in a lot of senseless bullshit early that just annoyed the fuck out of me. Smothers was really great in this down the stretch, but there was some badly telegraphed stuff and the highlight was probably a fan spitting on one of the Headbangers and getting ejected.
July 20, 201114 yr comment_5477290 Robert Gibson vs. Mosh (8/11/95) Gibson does yet another good job carrying a green member of The Headbangers to a decent match. Tommy "Wildfire" Rich vs. Boo Bradley (8/11/95) This was loads of fun as both men were totally relying on schtick here with Rich being a total chickenshit southern heel while Boo works the nutjob face gimmick very well. Boo bringing out stuffed animals to help him was hilarious. This was nice comic relief and if you are going to coast on a house show this is the way to do it. Not a nomination but very fun. "Wild Eyed Southern Boy" Tracy Smothers vs. "Simply Sensational" Al Snow (8/11/95) Some really good action early but the match fell apart in the middle and the end had some bad botches. Next we only get the finish of a Brad Armstrong/Buddy Landell match featuring Rich interfering not Corny so Landell & Rich get into it afterwards. 4 Way Dance: The Thugz ("Dirty White Boy" Tony Anthony & "Wild Eyed Southern Boy" Tracy Smothers) vs. The Headbangers (Mosh & Thrasher) vs. The Heavenly Bodies ("Gigolo" Jimmy del Ray & Dr. Tom Prichard) vs. "Simply Sensational" Al Snow & Unabomb (8/11/95) This was a clusterfuck mainly but I did love the fan getting kicked out.
