lFired up Smothers is so much fun to watch and there was no exception here. He has a real connection with the Southern crowds that seems to make all of these SMW matches' he's involved in seem special. The opening of this is all fired up Smothers beating Anderson up, tossing him around, hitting him with shit on the floor, forcing the kid to take pretty wild guardail bumps, et. Tracy gets cut off and they end up brawling on the floor again where Smothers misses a running splash for a huge bump on the guardrail. This leads straight to the inevitable Anderson armwork segment with Tracy selling his ass off. Good hope spots and comeback from Smothers with Anderson stilling the finish after a Smothers hot run. This was very good though simplistic. Not a lock, but strong enough to consider.

Anderson takes some hard ass bumps throughout here. They weren't graceful like Candido's, but were effective. He takes one bump where he looks like he cracks his skull on the floor. Smothers follows up with tossing him into the guardrail. Eventually Smothers smashes his arm into the guardrail and Anderson goes to work on it. Anderson does some basic stuff to the arm but we got a story and Smothers sells it big. We get some fun hope spots and we work to the finish. I liked this more than Dylan and it feels like a solid nomination.

Bryant Anderson vs. "Wild Eyed Southern Boy" Tracy Smothers (11/26/94)

 

This is a different atmosphere here as Smothers doesn't have any hecklers taking him off his game. Tracy was more spirited here and was more aggressive in his offense which gave this an edge over their other match. Bryant then took a cue from Smothers and got more aggressive as well as they brawled on the floor a bit before working on the arm. There were also no fuckups leading to Tracy's comeback which was a big plus but we got the same finish run with Bryant getting the win using the ropes. Yeah I dug this a lot and I have no problem pushing this forward.
