Posted November 4, 201014 yr comment_5457982 D-Lo Brown v. Lance Storm I liked their match from the previous show better. It went longer, built better and had a better camera angle. The matches were really similar. Bryant Anderson v. Tracy Smothers Fired up Smothers is so much fun to watch and there was no exception here. He has a real connection with the Southern crowds that seems to make all of these SMW matches' he's involved in seem special. The opening of this is all fired up Smothers beating Anderson up, tossing him around, hitting him with shit on the floor, forcing the kid to take pretty wild guardail bumps, et. Tracy gets cut off and they end up brawling on the floor again where Smothers misses a running splash for a huge bump on the guardrail. This leads straight to the inevitable Anderson armwork segment with Tracy selling his ass off. Good hope spots and comeback from Smothers with Anderson stilling the finish after a Smothers hot run. This was very good though simplistic. Not a lock, but strong enough to consider. Ron Wright/Dirty White Boy v. Jim Cornette/Bruiser Bedlam Man I really don't want to have to sit through this again. Cornette's bumping and punches/chops being ineffective were early highlights if you want to call them that. Actually everyone was good in this for what they were going for, but this is the sort of thing that is clearly meant for the live crowd and just does not come off as well on video fifteen years after the fact. Bedlam does a wild overselling job in this that is actually fairly amusing. Man the pop after the double collision and hot tag to Wright really is huge. Boo Bradley/Chris Candido v. Brian Lee/Cactus Jack This was okay. A lot of the same spots from the previous show, but they seemed to be performed with less enthusiasm and intrigue. Match gets semi-strange when the top rope collapses under Boo's weight and they sort of incorporate that into the match right in the middle of a Brian Lee FIP segment. Match breaks out into a pretty uninteresting brawl and then the finish. Eh. Bob Armstrong v. Bob Orton I'm not sure why but I liked this better than the match from the previous show. It was pretty much identical in content, but I just preferred the delivery I guess. That Orton looked better on offense and bumping, that Armstrong looked tougher on both sides of the ball as well. Still absurdly long, but overall not a bad match. The Gangstas v. The Rock N Roll Express (Street Fight) Pretty decent brawl. Not really anything super memorable, but there were some stiff blows in this while it lasted which wasn't long.
July 9, 201114 yr comment_5476228 D-Lo Brown vs. Lance Storm (11/26/94) Yeah I agree with Dylan on this one. Bryant Anderson vs. "Wild Eyed Southern Boy" Tracy Smothers (11/26/94) This is a different atmosphere here as Smothers doesn't have any hecklers taking him off his game. Tracy was more spirited here and was more aggressive in his offense which gave this an edge over their other match. Bryant then took a cue from Smothers and got more aggressive as well as they brawled on the floor a bit before working on the arm. There were also no fuckups leading to Tracy's comeback which was a big plus but we got the same finish run with Bryant getting the win using the ropes. Yeah I dug this a lot and I have no problem pushing this forward. "Dirty White Boy" Tony Anthony & Ron Wright vs. Bruiser Bedlam & Jim Cornette (11/26/94) Yeah this was awesome for the live crowd in Knoxville because of the story and participants involved but other than that it wasn't great. Boo Bradley & Chris Candido vs. Cactus Jack & "Primetime" Brian Lee (11/26/94) Yeah the match from the show before had more energy I thought then you add the top rope breaking and the match went downhill from there. Bullet Bob Armstrong vs. Bob Orton Jr. (11/26/94) This was almost an exact carbon copy of their other match which I liked better than this one as it seemed to flow better to me plus there was a better camera angle plus the finish run was better as in that match you had other babyfaces around the ring hyping up the crowd although they would come out after the match was over. Good but not enough for a nomination. Street Fight for the SMW Tag Titles: The Gangstas (New Jack & Mustafa Saed) © vs. The Rock n Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton) (11/26/94) The weapons are already in the ring before the match and it includes a FUCKING PALLET. The schtick before the match was great as D-Lo is holding the X flag. This brawl was way more spirited than the one the show before plus we got some good juice from Morton which hooked me into the match where the other one didn't have that luxury. The comeback was fun as Gibson was swinging the chair wildly then we got the hanging spot with Mustafa before D-Lo would get involved leading to the finish. This was a damn good brawl and moves forward fairly easily.
