So which was the best makeshift Marcus Bagwell babyface tag team of the 90s: Stars and Stripes, The American Males, or the team with Scorpio that should have had a name and didn't?

Remember when it seemed like Bagwell had a future and was decent-good in the ring? Yeah, the neck injury happened, but he really should have come back from that a bigger star than ever. Sadly, the ill-advised heel turn killed that. But I think more than anything, he's yet another casualty of the late 90s WCW drug scene and party culture that seemed to chew up and spit out a lot of guys that were around at that time.

Awesome story from the 1/8/01 WON in the feature about Mark Madden getting fired by WCW:

Lex Luger had been claiming he had 4% bodyfat for months. One week, he slipped and said 5%, so Madden mentioned that Luger gained 1% bodyfat. When Luger found out, he freaked out, so he decided to make fun of "Madden's less than flattering physique" the following week.

I kinda suspect Bagwell has asbergers or some similar impairment. Jim Ross told a story on one of the roundtables that essentially Bagwell's mother called in sick for him. Add that with all the nonsense including Judy Bagwell in comedy spots and I get the impression that he may not have been entirely comfortable on his own.

Not to derail the Vince vs Everybody thread with Bossman discussion. Watch 98 WWF and he is great. He carries himself like he is the man and you buy him being able to fight guys like Austin and Undertaker. It is hard to believe it is the same guy who was floundering in WCW six months before.

Also I think is just incredibly cool that at the 88 Survivor Series he beats the hell out of Hulk Hogan with a night stick then ten years late he does it to Hogan's successor Steve Austin. I love that whole angle where Bossman is suppose to injure Austin in the first round of the WWF title tourney only to have X-Pac and Regal fight to a draw giving Austin a bye.

I enjoyed V & D's work as a team. Apart they sucked but together they where fun. @ the time it reminded me of everything that I loved about Tag teams.

Neither where ever going to be a top tier singles wrestler but as a team they where a credible threat to the tag titles

Bischoff is an awesome troll. :)

Only wish that he called into CageSideRadio. Eric and Bix could have their rematch 10 years in the making.

I can't say I'm not tempted to either ask him to do a podcast or troll him into calling me angrily.

I know we have a Meltzer thread but this in context of that radio show above. His reply lol to the show:

LOL at Bischoff only being on air talent.

LOL about him bring up licensees. As of the summer, TNA had only one licensee, there before Hogan got there, and at the time their position as far as staying with TNA was hanging by a thread.

LOL about TV ratings being up.

House shows were up at one point but they haven't been lately.

A business discussion consisting of exactly zero business facts being brought up and lots of name calling.

Real enlightening and telling.

Nobody got Bischoff'd because that would take a factual argument. Somebody got out name called so Bischoff won by second grader rules. Anything past seventh grader rules and it was just an embarrasment.

Reading that thread on the BOARD: can someone explain when and why Bischoff started hating on Meltzer again? We should be past the stage where people in the business are calling him "a piece of parasitic shit".

Meltzer doesnt let anyone forget how badly he screwed the WCW pooch as well as restricting Eric con man act by doing the same.

I did like how Dave didn't make it clear that he was linking to softcore fetish porn on the Observer website:

--Lacey Von Erich is not done with wrestling after all. She's at http://www.ringdivashop.com/catalog/produc...roducts_id=2264 I wonder what Fritz Von Erich would think of this if he was still alive. Not that I have any clue how Fritz Von Erich would think of anything.

That LVE video is tragic - they at least usually PRETEND to wrestle as match on those things. She might as well be naked. I might buy it, then. No, probably not.

Anyway, can I just say how much I enjoyed the commentary team of Punk and Stanford (sp?) on Superstars this week? On the main event, it was like Heenan and Monsoon. Beautiful old school match calling, while Punk constantly interjects with sarcasms and jokes. The match was really good but made better by the voiceover.
