Acknowledging the WHAT chants just prolong them. Vince handles them best: if they start doing it to him he shoots a "the fuck you think you're doing" look, and if they continue he just starts speaking at a pace that doesn't allow them to get a WHAT in edgewise. Every time I've seen him do it, the crowd gives up within a line or two.

I still can't believe Nash of all people got so thrown by the chants. Poor Hunter was out there like Bruiser Brody used to do with WCCW guys who couldn't do promos... "what Kevin is trying to say, is..."

Christopher Daniels has always sucked. Watching a little bit of TNA tonight was a friendly reminder.

My first lesson to not always trust internet wrestling hype was the first time I watched a Christopher Daniels match. I mean why the hell was anyone EVER pimping him as "one of the best in the world"?

PWInsider.com has confirmed that it was actually WWE developmental talent Hunico working as Cara in both matches. The original Cara was at the event and dressed to wrestle, but management opted not to use him on TV. It's most interesting he wasn't used, as he was free and clear from his WWE Wellness Suspension.

In an update from my earlier story on Sin Cara, WWE sources are indicating that the original Sin Cara (Mistico) was sent home from the Calgary Smackdown taping after meeting with WWE officials. Mistico left the building before the tapings ended.

Going forward, sources claim that Hunico will exclusively portray the Sin Cara character, which WWE wants to maintain as its been very popular among kids and in merchandise sales.

Everyone I have spoken to expected the artist formerly known as Mistico to depart WWE, but nothing has been 100% confirmed on that front.

The Daniels/Modest match on Nitro was horrifying in so many ways -- terribly worked and counterproductively booked to boot. It was my first exposure to Daniels and I always looked at that whole segment as infamously bad.

I remember everyone being REALLY excited about the fact that match was going to even happen before hand, though, like it was going to change wrestling, and then afterward, we were an internet full of apologists.

I didn't search for long. but this sums ups all sorts of viewpoints from them time.

and hey, Hyatte.

I'd forgotten Hyatte after all these years.

What's somewhat funny about it is that Hyatte lumped Keller into the 99% of the Internet Smarts that suck. Wade wasn't an internet smark. He was writing about wrestling before there were internet smarts. Hyatte is the one who was an internet smart, doing what a lot of us at the time (and since) did: use our own little spots of the internet to pontificate about pro wrestling. Hyatte was one of the more prolific.

I had forgotten Hyatte too, to be honest, and I'm pretty sure I read his stuff just about every week when I was 17.

But my main point is that 1) there was a pretty solid hive mind back then 2) It was very excited about the Modest vs Daniels match before it happened and 3) it tried to spin it as a positive after the fact, certainly enough so that Wade got pissed off about it.

There are a ton of distinct wrestling memories I have from back then. Getting frustrated by the lack of acknowledgment of Benoit's TV title wins. Being EXCITED for Russo and Ferrara going to WCW because from what little we knew at that point, it seemed exciting for a guy who was primarily a WCW fan surrounded at college by people who were primarily wwf fans. The first time I saw the .rm file of the SAT/Red vs Brian XL/Devine Storm

That would be about as horrible as I remember it. There have to be some posters here who remember what folks on DVDVR thought of this. I can't imagine it was well liked there. I'm really doubt that Frank or me or other folks on tOA dug it. :)
