Bobby Heenan promo with Mr. Saito. Heenan claiming that everyone in the HooiserDome for a basketball game was there to see him. Saito's gimmick is unbelievably racist.

Second Bobby Heenan/Mr. Saito promo.

Tony Atlas v. Steve Regal

This was decent for an Atlast match that was essentially a job out. I liked Atlas splash at least.

King Kong Brody v. Woody Wilson

Hey this was a pretty fun squash as Brody beat the fucking shit out of Wilson.

King Kong Brody promo

Heenan crashes a Fabs interview and Keirn gets spike piledriven by Saito and Bock. EXTRA

Larry Zbyszko v. Curt Hennig

JIP. What is shown here is really good with several reversal spots from Hennig within the context of a broader Larry Z heat segment. Really liked Curt's comeback. Even the DQ finish off the top rope dropkick didn't piss me off. Still can't nominate this as this is more a piece of a match than a full match.

Mr. Saito/Nick Bockwinkel/Heenan promo talking shit on the Fabs

King Kong Brody v. jobber

Squash.

Sheik Adnan promo

Battle Royal

The finish of this with Blackwell getting his ass beat by Brody/Abby/Adnan was pretty fun.

Jim Brunzell promo

Road Warriors/Paul Ellering promo from their "first" Chicago match

Steve O v. Billy Robinson

JIP. Steve O is working over Robinson's leg so Billy bails to the floor. He comes back in pissed and works Steve O down but misses a big knee drop which put Steve O back on the attack. Cool spot with Robinson flipping Steve O off of a Boston Crab attempt. Robinson with the big forearms including a huge one that sends Steve O to the floor. Steve O stays out on the floor and gets suckered up against the ropes where Steve O takes him down and wraps his leg around the post. Steve O with a big sunset flip for a nearfall and then back to the leg but Robinson breaks free by cracking him in the face with his leg. Robinson blocks a single leg and locks on a waste lock and then pulls Steve over and under for a roll up finish. I really liked this for what it was but it's not going to stand up under scrutiny.

Crusher/Baron Von Raschke v. Mr. Saito/Jesse Ventura

JIP. This breaks out into a brawl and ends with Blackwell helping the heels win.

Crusher/Baron promo from behind a cage grating

Ventura/Adnan promo from behind the same cage.

Another Fabulous Ones video this one cut short.

The Sheiks v. Buck Zumhofe/Steve O (2/3 Falls)

This could be interesting. Blackjacks jump in the ring and issue a challenge to the Sheiks pre-match and Blackwell stiffs Lanza as he leaves the ring which leads to a mild pull-apart. Blackwell starts posing and ends up getting hit with a barrage of dropkicks, including a double dropkick, before Zumhofe hits a vader bomb style splash to steal the opening fall. Pretty great start actually as that sort of thing was pretty much the only way the faces were going to look believable here. Second fall is more of a back and fourth affair but a lot of the spots are really good. Blackwell just does everything with such great impact that it's hard not to enjoy him. Really liked the sunset flip nearfall, Zumhofe's Backlund style headlock crank, and the Zumhofe crossbody nearfall. Patera was past his prime here, but he did not look out of place at all. Blackwell ends up isolating Steve O on the floor and destroys him with a headbutt and a huge elbow drop while Zumhofe works over Patera. Zumhofe holds off Blackwell with some dropkicks and speed moves and goes for his vader bomb style splash again, but Blackwell gets his knees up and then hits him with his huge powerslam. Patera comes in and hits a suplex and then Blackwell comes back in and hits a huge splash to Zumhofe as he tries to crawl to the corner that Steve O had just climbed back onto. The heels refuse to cover Zumhofe and then Patera goes over and destroys Steve O again so the ref rings the bell. God damnit with a better finish this would have been an easy nomination, but this is still something I could see making the set pretty safely. VQ is pretty splotchy though.

Wally Karbo's hilarious post-match promo and confrontation with Adnan seems like it should be included as an Extra though if it doesn't follow right after the match itself I can't see it really making sense to anyone. EXTRA

Nick Bockwinkel v. Rick Martel

JIP. What was shown here was really excellent but I doubt it's even half the match. This did not look like a natural edit though and is probably out there on another disc in a more complete form (god willing). Really love the finishing run from the ab stretch spot, to the piledriver nearfall, to the Martel roll up finish. Really good shit.

AWA Raw Footage Feb-May 1984 from St. Paul may have a longer version.

Robinson blocks a single leg and locks on a waste lock and then pulls Steve over and under for a roll up finish. I really liked this for what it was but it's not going to stand up under scrutiny.

Back in the day, the pinfall here was something you didn't see everyday, and added to Robinson's mystique as a "Man of 1000 Holds". It was a real eye-opener for a finisher at the time (fuck I feel old when I type stuff like that...)

If this is the 4/15/84 match for the #1 contender spot in St. Paul, I think you'll find a longer version on the same raw footage tape I referenced above. If it's a Winnipeg bout, there are long versions of all three of their matches from there so you'll run across a longer version again.

2 out of 3 falls: Steve O & "Rock n Roll" Buck Zumhofe vs. Sheik Jerry Blackwell & Sheik Ken Patera (4/15/84)

Steve O with a mustache is funny and before the match the Blackjacks come in the ring to challenge the Sheiks to a titles match so of course Blackwell attacks Mulligan as he tries to leave the ring with this ending with the Blackjacks being escorted out. The faces come out firing numerous dropkicks leading to Zumhofe hitting his version of the Vader Bomb to take the first fall in shockingly quick fashion. Blackwell would catch Zumhofe though to start the second fall and now the heels are in full control but not for long as Zumhofe wrings Patera's left arm and the faces take turns working it over. Steve would miss a diving knee drop giving the heels another window but again the faces were pesky here finding ways to stay in control until Blackwell would attack Steve on the floor leaving Zumhofe in the ring alone but he was all over Patera taking it to him then to Blackwell before missing his Vader Bomb hitting all knees. Zumhofe has no partner now and Blackwell crushes Buck with a slam with this leading to the heels picking up Buck every time they have him pinned so they can punish him for and Marty Miller ends up DQing them giving the faces a 2-0 win. This told a fun story as the underdog faces took it to the champs who pulled out all the stops to regain control then went into full punishment mode. This was fun for what it was and I'll push it forward.
