Jerry Blackwell/Adnan interview setting up Abby as replacement for "injured" Patera Jesse Ventura interview setting up Ventura/Regal v. Fabs match. Road Warriors/Paul Ellering interview King Kong Brody v. Craig Carson Another Brody squash. I will say that Brody is a pretty entertaining squash wrestler. King Kong Brody interview in ring. Jumbo Tsuruta v. Rick Martel This is JIP but starts on a collar and elbow which leads me to believe little to nothing of substance is missing. Early it is Jumbo working the arm and Martel working the head/neck with a headlock. They do some decent exchanges operating from that base though it is really low key. First big spot is Jumbo with his jumping knee off the ropes. Really liked how he held his head after the strike to sell the damage from the Martel headlock. He follows up with some good forearms and a piledriver for a nearfall before going to an ab stretch. There are tons of needless crowd shots in this one and here there is a crowd shot that causes us to miss Martel reversing the ab stretch. Martel goes for his out inside splash and eats the knees which Jumbo follows up with a suplex for a nearfall. Bunch of stupid bullshit with double bumps, ref bumps, et. Jumbo goes for a Thesz Press but gets caught with a hot shot and then a body press for the title change. This should be an EXTRA, but I thought it was fairly middling as a match based on what was shown. EXTRA Rick Martel post-title win promo, Bock and Heenan confront him. EXTRA Fabulous Ones interview offering challenge for the World Title. The Fabulous Ones v. Rooster Griffin/Rick Ranslow Rooster Griffin is a tremendous jobber name and he is an amusing "foil" for the Fabs. Bobby Heenan interview Adnan/Brody interview talking shit on Blackwell. Baron/Crusher promo. Crusher crushes a chair over his head. Harley Race v. Craig Carson Squash with Harley geting DQ'ed. Hennig makes the save. Heenan runs in to even the score but gets double teamed by Heenan/Race. Axe hits the ring for the save. Larry Hennig/Curt Hennig interview Road Warriors/Paul Ellering interview Finish of Brody v. Blackwell shown with Abby/Adnan attacking Blackwell and the bayfaces hitting the ring to make the save. Jerry Blackwell interview talking about practicing to beat up Abby/Brody out in the country. EXTRA possibliity Wally Karbo interviewing explaining absence of Heenan. Bock and Saito come in and cut a promo about what they can do themselves. Crusher/Baron promo. Crusher has the chair on his head again. Bockwinkel interview. Brody/Adnan repeat interview King Kong Brody v. Steve O This was sort of fun to watch just to see how unbelievable Brody was literally not selling ANYTHING Steve O did even for a half a second. Jerry Blackwell interview on Brody. The Road Warriors v. jobbers Decent squash. Road Warriors/Paul Ellering interview Brody/Adnan interview Jerry Blackwell interview covered in blood post brawl with Brody. Curt Hennig joins Blackwell at the end. Good stuff. Larry Hennig interview freaking out about Curt being beaten up three weeks in a row. Steve Regal v. Tom Zenk Unbelievably boring draw where they literally did nothing of note for the entire ten minutes. Blah. The Road Warriors v. Jobbers Decent squash. Road Warriors/Paul Ellering interview Fabulous Ones interview Tony Atlas/Jim Brunzell interview Road Warriors interview Steve Keirn interview King Kong Brody v. Jerry Blackwell JIP. Middling brawl. Both guys get DQ'ed and the post-match stuff is way better with bloody Blackwell headbutting a ref and beating Brody with a chair. Brody interview. Pretty decent. Road Warriors/Paul Ellering interview Brody/Adnan interview Verne wrestling newsletter commercial. Jerry Blackwell/King Kong Bundy interview
November 11, 201014 yr comment_5458231 King Kong Brody v. Steve O This was sort of fun to watch just to see how unbelievable Brody was literally not selling ANYTHING Steve O did even for a half a second. This was originally billed as Mad Dog Vachon vs. Brody, but Vachon left the AWA for the WWF basically the night of the card. they worked an angle where Vachon tried to get to the ring to fight Brody but was held back by the cops as he tried to get to the ring since his AWA contract had expired. Pretty weird that Verne let him run this since he would be competing 6 days later on the WWF's first strike into the twin cities. On the May-June 1984 raw footage disc you can see the angle and catch a glimpse of Vachon, with karbo announcing that he won't be appearing (hard to hear but the effect on the crowd is notable). Needless to say, Steve O was in a no-win situation as the fans didn't want to see him, he wasn't advertised, and everyone knew he had no chance. Brody was right to give him nothing in this case..nobody believed Steve had even a fraction of a chance in this one.
November 11, 201014 yr Author comment_5458233 It wasn't so much that I expected Brody to give Steve O anything really, but he would just walk through his punches not even acting stunned or annoyed. Never seen that before
